i see Honda club got so many ppl during honda gathering...sigh.. :(

actually mivec is just a small portion of mitsu/proton cars & engine.. but Honda is everything.. 1 name and one engine Vtec.. no wonder they so happening.. [/b][/quote]
no la...it's all up to u ma...
last time im driving proton car to...
but still happening ma...
maybe mivec car can join us (vtec)...let's share idea
how to beat each other....ahaks!!~
hehehe

walau erh !! no one want TT meh ?? come out lah .. just have fun. what about tomorrow (friday) ?? same place loh (taipan) ?? what about u (ken) ? i never meet u leh !! mine number is 0123482478 (yong), can u guys just ring me if all of u are coming out for TT thanks ! :D

Yong i would like to meet u personally also. But looking at TT must have well plan day lah last minutes thing does not work here. Lets plan for a night. Some people prefer weekdays and some weekends. Next Friday or Sat ?19/20

haih...miss that car so much...

now drive stock perdana feels like uncle only....just can smile when ppl shadow from behind :D

next week hopefully goes well. cannot tahan already.

cimpeng, when u want to remap your ecu? my friend asking already.

guys, do you have or happen to know anyone that selling wira 1.6 gearbox manual? let me know

thanks

i wonder

if a 1.8 mivec using the stock mivec ecu vs the 1.8 proton ecu with mivec controller , which one has better fueling ?

i think fueling with the 1.8 proton ecu has richer fueling between 4k rpm - 7800k rpm
* proton ecu mapping are generally quite rich esp. between 7k - 7800 k rpm

the 1.8 mivec with mivec ecu will have optimum fueling maybe bias toward learner and much leaner 5 k - 8700 k rpm

what you reckon !

err.. mivec ecu would be better i think..
usually ppl with proton ECU uses VAFC so can remap fuel and control mivec engagement point..
but off course.. use a 1.8 mivec chip would be the best.. if not stand alone la..

i m trying to organize a big TT under Mitshubishi !! Hope we can get a good repsond there feel free to check out there or be active there

It will be good to know. just how much more fuel is required. With mivec or proton ecu ? 20% 40% ...

anyone here dyno with just the mivec ecu or proton ecu on 1.8 mivec ?

actually, fuel mapping alone is not enough. You need to change the ignition mapping as well to get optimum result.

both way can be done. but using mivec ecu has the advantage over the proton ecu.
because:
1. mivec ecu has basic mapping of fueling/ignition for 1.6 mivec. With bigger cc (1.8) u just need to alter it from basic.
2. mivec ecu will automatically actived the engagement point at 5500-5600rpm (standard). when engagement point activated, fuel/ignition also changed, before and after engagement point. Again, u just need to adjust from basic 1.6 mivec.

with proton ecu, u need to do extra wiring to activate the engagement point. I heard many people said, this way sometime not 100% reliable. not sure about this.
Somemore, 1.8 proton ecu has ealier rpm cut-off than mivec ecu. I'm sure you will need extra rpm limit...until 8.5k rpm in order to get optimum result.

so again to answer your question: stock mivec ecu vs proton 1.8 ecu, which one has better fueling,
in my opinion, stock mivec ecu.
BUT stock mivec ecu only, not enough to cater 1.8 mivec. The best is to use mivec ecu + piggyback to control amount of fuel and also adjust the ignition. Or if budget permits, get standalone unit, provided you've made extensive mods on your engine. If not, it just a waste of money.

if something wrong somewhere, feels free to correct me :D . i'm also learning.

thanks

I'm basically trying to gauge whats the fueling requirement for 1.8 mivec.
Well , i don't have a 1.8 mivec. Just running 272 cams on a 4g93p which is nearly the same as the 1.8 mivec but not as potential as the 1.8 mivec.

Using the 1.8 mivec as a benchmark.

Yup , i know go do a dyno ... i will .. but for now .. just trying to figure out how much you guys are fueling up.

The afr even thou not accurate , shows rich from 5k rpm + to max rev. using the stock 1.8 proton ecu.

Thanks for the feedback guys ...

apart from piggybacks or standalones, is there any other way to tune your AFR? in this case , 1.8 Mivec particularly. Currently running a 1.8 Mivec on a mivec ECU.
thanks all.

Turtlewax,
As Naszal had explained.. it's better to go for the Mivec ECU and full wiring harness. Both the ECU and wiring is designed for Mivec functions. Wiring itself is quite a complicated entanglement. Am never comfortable with the wiring tappings by using back the Proton/MMC non-Mivec ECU and wiring and then hook up to RSM or VAFC to activate the system. Seen lotsa "potatoes" or "kentang goreng" with shorted ECUs, wiring, etc etc :( .

Most piggy backs need to rely on the fundamental fuel & ignition mappings of the ECU and control the variations from there. And err..the air flow sensors are different altogether.

Have done coupla dynos for the hybrids all with different stage of mutations. You can expect anything from 150++ whp to 180whp or more. But, of course, more goes into studying the graphs and engine response than just mere horsepower numbers.

Naszal,
Good explainationa on the basics of going mutant! ;) Well there are more to be done than just doing up the ECU/Wiring/Piggybacks... obviously there are more to go on to produce an all round performing and durable mutant. Don't forget the mechanical aspects too! :)
