whats is the typical lifespan of a coilover ?

Factors determining coilover is due to repair/service/ change ?

Seems like knocking sound and leaks are very common ??

Can we make do we a leaking coilover ??

Is it common to repair the leaks ...my is leaking ......or can i make do with the leak ??

Most real coilovers are serviceable, The leak means the seals are bad. You're losing the oil thats serves to dampen the spring rebound and compression. When your coilovers leak, it will give a harsh ride

can i go to any workshop to service any brand of coilover ???

does it mean i can just change the seals or change whole absorber ?

Usually just change seals and refill the gas/air and oil
Shops, have to ask around. I ask someone else to send one i had to repair.

what brand is yours?
mine is d2 that from taiwan
last 6 month i sent mine for service at serdang n i need to pay rm 250 per strut

it depends how harsh the set is used as well.
Deterioration is increased if, on a damping adjustable set, is set to max hard or max soft and when there's a sharp spike in compression like speeding through severe bumps or dips. Some people like to run at really low ride heights where it will kill the set if it weren't meant to run that low. There's always a sweet spot in shock travel, try not to go beyond that.
The dust cover protecting the shock shaft, if broken may allow sand particles to stick and could score / scratch the shaft decreasing the efficiency of the seals.

^ What tom said about exceeding the valving in the shocks, that's also one reason why it spoils, but usually the seals tend to give way first AFAIK.

Of note, if you're running monotubes like me, for most of the brands, the dust boots simply doesn't exist, so that's normal.

the lifespan of the strut not just about KM...if u just park for long time also counted coz the seal got it lifespan...
actually all type of strut can be service if u send to the correct shop...normal absorber also actually can be service...

Currently my damping is set at 18 clicks from soft in front and 16 clicks at the rear. With 6k springs in front and 4k behind for satria. Neo.
I always set atleast 4 clicks harder whenever I go for touge runs which is latest once a month. I'm just wondering if I would shorten the lifespan if the shocks as I play with the settings every month.

no it wont shorten the life span...some more its good if u play with the damper adjuster rather than u let it stick there...
why i say that normally the damper adjuster jammed (stuck) if u never touch it at all plus corrosion coz of the air/humidity...

mine is charge 250 coz its monotube
for non monotube, they'll charge about 100+ per strut
its 'prs suspension' at serdang

is there practical to service adjustable or better find a new one new adjustable cost and repair seems like to reach the same amount?any advice for this..i used d1 spec adjustable and now front adjustable leaking....
