i also using pivot VS.

no need to remove the batt connector.

ur batt connector should have a screw which u jus need to fit in the terminal(+tive to +tive , -tive to -tive) and jus tighten the screw.

doesn't matter which 1 u install 1st.

once u connect up correctly,the VS should have a blue LED litted up.
