Hi, would like to ask guys who know the 2jz-gte engine.
How much hp can an engine with stock internals/bottom end run reliably?
600hp?More?

Just did a quick search and found that the stock 6-spd gearbox is a Getrag that can take huge hp.

Basically, what reliable and drivable hp can you extract from the engine with just bolt-on mods, without opening up the engine?

Thanks!

easily 600hp without touching the internal, probably no problem touching 1000hp as well with stock engine, however reliability wise i'm not sure, better ask blackhowling.

thanks, I had a look at a few forums on the Mkiv supra esp. Mkiv.com.

Seems the stock 2jz-gte AND gearbox can take up to 800hp reliably and the gearbox even higher hp.

I wonder what is the price for a stock standard 2jz-gte (MUST be manual 6-spd) is in Malaysia? In Motortrader, the prices seem to be falling under RM90k. :)

u sure? supra's 6 speed gearbox is like rarer than an original copy of Tsukihime visual novel... don't think its that cheap. but if you say the halfcut alone.. probably lar.. lol.. just guessing..

Hmmm, the two in Motor Trader must be auto. One is the N/a asking for rm80k. The other is a twin turbo 3.0, it says 5-speed so must be auto. Asking for rm89k.

I might try to bring one from the UK. There's a few UK spec. Supras, stock and with full service history, twin turbos with 6-speed manual. Going for around £8000 upwards. Nice :_: Really hope I can use my wife's student AP :emoticon_U:

Thought of bringing an Elise back, but to make it worth it, it really needs an engine conversion, either Honda K20A or Audi 1.8T. And that will cost £10,000 minimum. Plus, it will be extremely hard to find a good mechanic/workshop that knows the car.
