Following a period of uncertainty and speculation, FXOpen have finally confirmed the dates for the FXOpen Drift Series Grand Final that will be held on 26 and 27 March 2011. The venue will be Speed City at the Selangor Turf Club.
The announcement was made at the D1FX 2011 Drift Party held in Kuala Lumpur that also saw an appearance by Tengku Djan, the country, and one of the region’s best drifters. A number of drift machines were also on display at the party, including Djan’s own Nissan 180SX, swathed in the liveries of FXOpen.
“Drifting, interestingly enough, appealed to us by its similarities with our business. The same sharp turns, the same importance of fast situation analysis and reaction, the same quick feedback to your applied efforts and strategies,” said Denis Peganov, FXOpen Development Director.
The prize money was also announced for the finals, which will see the first placed drifter walk home with an amazing RM100,000, followed by RM50,000 for the second placed drifter and RM30,000 for the third placed driver.
As of now though, not much is known about the Speed City track, apart from it being at the Selangor Turf Club. We did however manage to find an illustrating video on YouTube about the layout.
