well.. I bought a expensive nice quality tin spray for my head of engine block.

first try..

seems ok and I closed the bonnet and start the engine.

after that.... all the bubles came up.. :(

second try..

used the towel to wiped bit of bubles... and sprayed again..

after that..... the area that I didn wipe them properly look like bumpy road

looking.. (not flat looking.. :( )

I just left it there.. I don dare the start engine again...

Damn.. what a wasting my money..

I didn take out the block but covered out side of block nicely.. I did it

2 times.... arrr.. back pain.. ( if u done this once.. u know why I'm having a

back pain... damn.. :) )

So.. any better ideas?

i think arr bro, you never let it dry properly....

takes quite some time for the paint to dry wan, so i guess what you could do now is that you dismantle the head and sandpaper until clean and smooth, then spray again, butthen this time give it time to dry :D

any other sifu here can help him, keisn him weh, DIY till back pain liow...

Hie, i understand how you feel when you spray something unsucessfully. I encounter that before but not with the engine head.

Did you let it dry properly? Did you apply a layer of high temperature paint at the bottom? :)

You definitely can't start the car straight away.. Probably to be safe, leave it to dry for half a day or so. Air-dry.

Or you probably bought expensive NON HIGH TEMP spray... good quality but if it won't withstand heat, you're screwed.

First-off, did you remove the existing paint and sand the cover down? spraying over existing paint and all that dirt will just make things worse.. Try a quart of brake fluid.. works wonders with paint, heh. Careful of the plastics, certain ones may not like brake fluid and may start to..melt.

And starting the car right after reinstalling it is like.. putting a hairdryer.. bubbles will form as basically the paint is not fully dry, the oxygen pops out

That's what happens when I get impatient and dry things using my 1) oven 2) hair-dryer 3) very hot Malaysian sun.

patience, a little of it will go a long way.

High temp paint got not much choice lar...how??

Apply high temp paint as base layer??sound the same also ler...since high temp paint highly heat conductive...will eventually conduct heat to above layer also ...JMO :P

well, that's why it's best to paint your cover in primary colors - there are only a handful of heat resistant colors available, go check out ACE hardware.

And no if it's a base coat it doesn't help.. the main color should be that.

Well, u should actually wait the paint to dry up first, else it is like u boiling the paint and therfore the bubbles emerged.

well, i never done it on the engine b4, but this is wat i heard from some computer casing modification site which discuss about painting. No matter wat paint job u do , for best result, u better leave it there for about 2-3 days but it cannot prove u it is 100% dry up, but it is save to use already.

For ur case now is to sand ur engine block then spray it again...
