When I accelerate, the engine hesitate and sort of misfiring when it hits full boost @ 3500rpm. FYI, my car is still running stock with only, Apexi air filter, HKS BOV and HKS exhaust. And worth to mention, my engine sounds like a boxer engine when I accelerate which I suspected caused by spark plugs. So, anyone can give me some advice on what I should look out for?

Chk fuel system, spark plug and plug cable... all cannot chk ECU. Did you do an engine wash?

But u maybe right about the plugs.

TS, Borrow ur thread..
I got same problem, driving stock NA 4G13p... spark plug & plug cable changed already, Fuel filter also changed, still getting like hesitation/jerking:mad::bawling:.. any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Doppel: Did u change ur throttle body lately? the problem happens a lot especially when u on your air con ?

iexit is right.. also check engine compression to see if piston is leaking

ramzmrtwo: i had the problem on a 3SGE engine (sounds like a boxer engine), and i never bother to give a check. Next thing happened was the engine con rod bearing damage. Hopefully your's is a different problem :)

Check your air flow sensor if it is 1st gen or 2nd gen & check map sensor it it is 245. This is normally the problem. Check for leakage on turbo pipings, check for connection problem at air flow sensor(or also known as Air Flow Meter) & if it is 245 check whether the hose to the sensor is ok(i.e: plug in, not cracked....)

I've just check the spark plug and its tip is black. So that account for why the car hesitate when accelerate hehe  Yee, does damage con-rod bearing produces a knocking sound? Mine idle smooth but only when I rev, it misfiring..

It could likely be the spark plugs/current supply to plugs. If plugs not firing, that cylinder must've had lotsa fresh fuel passing by da combustion chamber/Maybe O2 sensor faulty-can't give the right exhaust gas reading-give default rich mixture-wet da plugs-misfire/or Mass Air Flow Sensor-ECU dunno how much air enter into engine-so default-put more fuel in-wet da plugs- miss fire/Loose intake turbo hoses-incorrect calculation of air intake at air mass sensor compared to intake manifold-Default rich mixture-wet da plugs-misfire. All this could cause super high fuel consumption,Black smoke, misfire,no power.Just my 2cents,may not be completely right..hehe:biggrin::hmmmm:

razmrtwo: Initially, the boxer sound thingy came off and on, but no knocking sound. Thta's why i thought not a serious problem. Then, I went to check at some workshop in sunway, and they told me spark plug problem. But the final time the knocking sound came out and that's the time the engine gave way. :P Anyway check ur intercooler piping also :)

After I sent my car to my trusted mechanic, he found out that one of the spark plug was really sooty. So, he cleaned it and at the same time, I replaced the spark plug cables too and now no more hesitation and misfiring

Ah...good to hear that :) cos my mechanic told me 3S engines are very reliable engine. So he said it's either my foot too heavy or i stepped on shit and that's why phucking unlucky. :P

Yeah, its so reliable that even when there are less oil in the engine, it can still withstand the abuse
