converting awd to 2wd

Mazda RX-8 ??? but brother i drove a stock RX-8 b4 which belong to my friend, hM..... i think airtrek is faster abit la.

hahaha... :) it's actually for my wife. Yes, RX8 is not fast. It's just 200hp but styling is cool. Anyway, I am still faithful to my good old big potatoe!

but fc is worse then atr.if nt mistaken rm50 only for 150km

Don't think it'll be worse than trek. I did some research, ard 7-8km/l. So ok la.

Not really. My wife likes, so I just get it for her. It comes with some goodies too. Will share more of the car later. ;)

now my trek is at ah wah's shop for conversion.
pros, 100kg reduction, better aceleration, save fuel,no need center diff oil forever?
cons, lose some top speed n traction?i guess auto tranny won't spin.
i hope this mod will benefit city's stopping n acelerating style of driving.

Hey bro kanibu, joining me in the 2WD trek club huh....heheheee
I'm sure U'll enjoy driving your trek after this, car will be lighter, more responsive, improve fuel consumption.
When will your car be ready? how much $$$ for the conversion?

bro avant,u so damn right.car lighter n responsive.the aceleration indeed improve alot.td05 lag also reduced abit.btw, auto tranny confirm won't spin n guess wut,the power stil the same n i stil doin 230kmh with no problem at all.
yesterday even took a sharp corner 90kmh at usj plus tol heading klang, not as grippy as awd but i don't fast cornering that frequent.
conversion cost rm600 at ah wah's shop.

auto 2wd trek best for daily town driving.

Glad to hear U're enjoying 2WD.
230km/h!!?? a speed demon huh.
By the way, did ah wah offer to buy your AWD driveshaft & centerdiff? should be able to recover the cost & get some money back from the 2 parts removed from your 2WD conversion.

yeah, will tok wif ah wah bout the parts.Normally this parts seldom spoilt.consider junk until someone looking for it.

Actually, these are some of the parts he wants most.
I sold my AWD driveshaft to Ah wah, he asked me if I wanted to sell it last time.
Have no plans to convert back to AWD, might as well let it go, takes up a lot of space...hehee

true... if u don't need it, just sell it off. can get back some $$$ is better than throwing them away or keepin to collect dust.

my parts stil at his shop n no intend to take bak too.ah wah helped alot le.by juz dong my car,i think he rugi alot edi.bought 1/2 cut for me,gearbox kong n he chg another foc.boost leak almost 4-5times rewrap the termo clothes cost almost rm400-500.tuning paid once but refine tune 2-3times.my trek got very long history of suay thing happen.took almost 1 year to solve everything.

Sorry to dig this post up. But can i just ask, what happens when you guys "convert" your Airtrek Turbos to FF? tailshaft and centre diff removed? How about transfer case? Is that removed as well?

I am thinking of dropping an Airtrek Turbo engine and gearbox into my Mitsubishi Mirage. So whatever information you guys have, it will be beneficial for me

BTW will an Evo9 front LSD bolt on into an Airtrek turbo gearbox? Does anyone have any idea?

depends on the driver driving technique.if u the type flooring it frequently,u need the awd on the trek.if not u end up like the wiralution go zig-zag when u floor it.

center diff is glue to the gearbox.rear drive shaft, rear diff, rear left n right axle will b removed for 2wd.

btw,y u need lsd on an autogearbox?
