Hi guys,

Just wondering if you guys have the same weird sound. I have this clicking sound around speakerboard on the passenger side. Sounds like something loose (eg wire) that keeps touching a metal panel. I have yanked out everything and found nothing loose. Could it be caused by the shocks or the boxes behing the seat. The HICAS and the other one which I have absolutely no idea what it is.

Might help if you mention what car you drive bro?

R32 GTR?
R33 GTS-t/GTR?
R34 GTT/GTR?

maybe wing mirror

when i first got my car, i had some strange sound (not sure if it is the same clicking sound) but i later found out that it is the wing mirror switch on the driver's door not resettting back automatically after you press the switch to push it out again after reclining the wing mirrors.

for my car, it only affected the passenger's door.

it may not be the problem but perhaps it may help. mine is a GTT too.

clicky

Mine's located on the rear speakerboard on the passenger side.. weird sutff.

My previous R33 rear speakerboard made alot of rattling and clicking noises as well.

After taking it apart to replace it with a custom cut out MDF, i saw that there were alot of screws sitting there prob left there by some previous audio installer. My R34 thankly makes none of these sounds but your best bet is to take out that rear parcel shelf and see whats below or whats loose.

Its actually not too hard to take out
Let me know if u need some info on how to take it out
:)

hope this can help:

my experiences with my R34 as far as sounds are concerned:

besides the wing mirror there was

1. some loose metal sounds from around the passenger back end. what it was is the jack not tighten thus rattling around slightly and making irritating sounds. just open the boot, left side open jack cover and see if the jack is moving. even 1 com makes irritating sound
what you should do next is take out the jack, and put your hand into that HUGE cavity. you may be surprise what you can find in there. just make sure nothing bites you :)

2. same experience with spare tyre. you should also take out the spare tyre and see if there is anything underneath (screw etc) that is moving around

3. next, you can check your bodykit if you have one. sometimes screws that hold it together also get loose and the bodykit rattles.

4. the seat belt buckles. since skyline owners hardly take passengers AND the passengers hardly wear seat belts, very few ppl notice that the buckles are ofter UNDER the seats because no one pulled them out after washing the rear seats. these buckles at times if no one is sitting on the seat rattle under the seat and again make irritating sounds.

5. finally, like Kenny suggested take the MDF board out and see if the speaker wires or pins are in contact with the body.

really hope you find the source man. i know how irritating rattling sounds are.

Yanked out

I have totally yanked out everything... Speakerboard, seats, rear boot covers, spare tires, jack, looked at the undercarriage. Everything except the bodykit. I highly doubt it to be the bodykit.

There are no loose wire, orphaned screws, or loose items. I have insulated a lot of the items that I suspected could be the cause. I used some sponge :)

Still the sound still persists. I'm suspecting bodyflex that could possibly cause some weaken spot welds. Any inputs ?

let us test drive for u, then can help u troubleshoot better. hehe.....

Try checking your rear speakers...Mine was original coaxial speakers and the cone on the tweeters were busted...worth a look mate! Good luck! :-)

i reckon you remove the rear speakers, spare tyre, jack and everything that can be remove in the boot. You never know it could be the suspension giving you this problem.

Btw what Mozz just mentioned also is most likely the problem i have...hehehe gotta check it out.
