A total of 370 BMWs were damaged while being shipped to Jersey City, USA. The carrier M/V Courage is reported to have tipped while at port causing irreparable damage to over 70 BMWs with the rest sustaining major damage. The damaged BMWs included brand new 3-series, 1-series and the most heart breaking of all, M3s. Word is that the much loved M3s bared the brunt of brutality. It is said that extensively damaged cars will be crushed while those with minor damage will undergo repair at a receiving facility after which they will proceed onto dealers.
This incident is believed to be the cause of a major setback in delivery time and it also means that many dealerships will be short of demo cars. Sad to say, with the M3s competition growing stronger in the US market from the likes of Lexus, Cadillac and Mercedes, such an incident will only drive potential customers away from BMW because of the waiting period. Sorry BMW, but with the C63 AMG being so highly desirable as well, I’d rather go for that than wait.
