hey guys... wat do u guys think? wanted 2 know wat lubricant u guys been using too...

engine oil? I just use the cheapest 20w50 I can get which means no synthetic, semi or fancy ester polymer bla bla..
premix ? Motul 2T from friend's left over at his motorcycle shop
gearbox, diff ? Redline gear oil mixed with something else :driver:
coolant ? air sirap toyota.

u guys should know that rotary engine need some engine oil to lubricate the apex seal. So don't use too crappy oil.

Mostly normal synthetic oil can't be burned completely in the combustion and carbon built up easily.

I'm using Idemitsu rotary synthetic oil.

Here we go again.. the good ol debate about rotary oil... had enough of it. :banghead:

The most important thing is to keep your so called "rotary" oil as fresh and clean as possible a.k.a frequent oil change. You wouldn't want heavily contaminated oil being injected into the rotor housing.

Btw, how much is the Idemitsu sponsored 1991 4 rotor 787B le mans champion oil cost you?

I'm using ~RM40+ 20w50 grade (dinosaur oil of course) and change it frequently.

There is no such thing as "normal" synthetic oil. Synthetic oil is made from non-petroleum base compounds. If you remember chemistry, crude oil is processed to create diesel, petrol, aero-fuel, bitumen and others. Part of that is "mineral oil".

Synthetic oil is completely man-made via chemical processing. I do not understand enough to explain it but it sounds really complicated. It was created during World War 2 by scientists as getting fuel for the war machines tend to be a problem during war time.

There are big advantages for using synthetic oil in performance cars. However, https://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Car_Care/AskMobil/Mobil1_Mazda_Rotary_Engine.aspx

I use the cheapest mineral oil I can find within the 15W to 50 range. I can actually think of a few reasons to use synthetic in a rotary but since it was not recommended by experts, I just dont. That and I am on an FC, not much performance gain using synthetic in the old 13B engines except for the speed of the cash flying out of my wallet.

[EDIT] I stand corrected, Idemitsu DOES make a fully synthetic rotary oil. But when I saw the price... haha... I think I'll stick to my Castrol GTX and other cheap lube.

^what's the price? can get how many oil change using our cheap dinosaur oil?
cheap not always = crappy.
in the end it's up to you.. it's your money.
doing oil change for me takes ~15 minutes. suck in old oil.. put new oil. no need to jack the car etc.

its always better to change oils regularly. i've used semi syn with no complains. you can look at the condition when engine is dismantled. so stick to what you like and change regularly.

im using Greedy one.Price, RM400++.its time to change now.want try HKS next week.

Its true that those Rotary specific Synthetic oil very ex. But you'll get a smoother ride.

I paid RM52-RM54 per quart for the Idemitsu Rotary synthetic oil. And need about 3.5 to 4 litre per service.

Was using Idemitsu Mineral oil previously which was RM75 per 4 litre bottle!!! Which is cheaper than 50% what i'm using now.

Not to mention that the price I'm talking here is already a VERY DISCOUNTED price which is about 25% cheaper already :)
