using AEM EMS? or Hondata?
AEM EMS software is available for download already, I think it's a new revision.. I didn't check it out though.
Hondata SManager is at 1.3.0, new feature is lean and overheating protection. Nothing to shout about at the moment. Also allows wideband monitoring, which just made my LM-1 obsolete! (but then again, I have the auxbox, and that has more flexibilities for sensors.
Finally figured out the secondary map feature function on the hondata, anyway. It's quite robust actually, just needs a bit of wiring and a bit of additional components added for nitrous control.
The secondary tables also allow for nos activation by controlling NOS solenoids directly, so you can map them direct into the map without using that fiddly WOT switch mount at the TPS, essentially able to use it to spool up big turbos at low rpms (something like ZEX's boost sensitive nitrous kit)
after X-mas? Wow.. you're taking your time.
Well, money is trickling in slowly, and budget's gonna be tight in the coming new year, so I'm gonna slow down a bit too till january or february, but not before working on my b16a head.
I doubt the braided hoses are there for better vacuum, as the braided hose only stop expansion outwards not inwards. They're there for uniformity, I think. which was why vacuum hoses were not really a critical item (in terms of worries of hose expansion). I don't think vacuum is affected by volume, but unless I compare my datalogs when I put a different intake plenum, I can't be sure. Don't think anyone ever logs the performance of a stock engine.
As for maps being better.. well, they are better at 'estimating' the engine flow at high rpms, so you have a point there, because sometimes before actual 100% TPS, we occasionally get the 'ram air' effect, so AFR is affected (more air, MAP registers 100Kpa, zero vacuum, sometimes you get this when going downhill really fast.). I get that a couple of times as well, but it really only occurs at high speeds (more than 140km/h)... Perhaps those that have CAI piped to the bumper might get it more often and earlier, I dunno.. I'm not too keen on making a hole in the bumper for a CAI, though my new bumper does have accomodations for something like that... time is a major factor though, esp. since I'm an insistent sod that tries to do it on my own, and doing it one stage at a time so it's very clear what kind of modifications affect what. I plan to reach the level where I can fabricate some custom parts or order custom cam grinds that can be proven to work.

Bisi Erizoha's F20B SOHC NA making 330hp on engine does make me think there's a lot more hidden power in small cc engines without fully resorting to displacement.
Well still a long way to go for me to participate in any drag race soon... I'll probably want run an alcohol setup if I can spring the time and budget to go dragging.
I think alcohol is a much more resistant fuel to knocking than regular petrol. but then again, normal petrol plus napthalene is still cheap as well, though I think it'll kill the fuel filter in no time.
