all toyota member here, what u think if the 4afe engine drive shaft and clutch kong? just pump in 20V or change the thing if just got limited $$$. mech charge me 600++ for 200mm clutch, 500++ for 212mm clutch ( i dun know which clutch should be use) ,400++ for drive shaft two side. question is here:

1) repair it or pump in 20v? pump in 20v need how much $$$ complete inspection?
2) which clutch should use? 200mm or 212mm? what the difference? y 212mm more cheaper?

erkk..i'm not sifu..just give opinion only..

pump in 20V..spent little bit extra money..
if get healty 20V and keep it standard...wow..power+fuel economic..

halfcut..rm3800
workmanship 1200 - 1500
unforseen item..if wanna change ..spare 1,000 - 1,500 (belting, water pump..oils..etc)
exhaust set 750

Besides engine drive shaft and a kaput clutch...do your 4afe good and reliable engine give you any problems ?
 
so far so good, still very powerful even the mileage already reach 240K KM, still can speed 190km++/h at kesas highway.
 
Drive shaft kong mah get whole pcs from chop shop loh. RM150 per pcs. last bought for my dad SEG on haft year ago. workmanship RM20-30 bucks only.

Clutch kong is wear and tear ler.... just replace with original clutch diameter loh. i dont know what is the diameter, u just has to ask around and call up spare part shop to ask loh.
just ask 4afe manual clutch and cover set how much.

if no problem, noneed convert engine, unless you already planned to transplant 2-3 years back la... :-)
 
If have spare RM7-8k, and already tak tahan Myvi/Saga 'cucuk' then just convert to 4age. No regrets..
If want to save your money, and 4AFE still not burning oil, no need overhaul or anything major, just change the drive shaft& clutch.
I'm kedekut, so only convert my 4AFE to 4age after mileage over 400k km, and need to overhaul cause burning oil already....
 
change those chop shop drive shaft will more tahan than those local made drive shaft..
those costing RM300 only n i have 1 pair for sale also..
for the clutch, 4AFE using 8.5", if ur pressure plate still in good condition..u can juz change the clutch pad only..that 1 wont cost u that much as ur mechanic quoted
 
hold the shaft and goyang the cv joint see got any serious runout anot..
then pull in n out see runout also..
minor longgar is normal, serious longgar means kong due bearing makan
 
I now can hear 'tak tak tak' sound when turning right n left. Becoming more serious / sound while turning. Izzt driveshaft problem or cv joint? Should dismantle out onli can check?
