3 way to steal a car;
1. Break in and drive away.
2. Hijack the car.
3. Use a tow truck.

U cant stop thief from breaking in as they will jump on oppoturnity. What u can do is stopping them from driving away. U need a decent immobiliser to do this. An example of immobiliser is the Cobra 8510 model ( factory fitted in my waja ). It works by shutting off 2 engine part eg fuel pump and ignition. Swapping ecu and fuel pump does nothing. However the wiring must be done in a conceal manner. The best part is that since this type off immo is very old and uses touch key, its hard to duplicate it without physically having the key in your hand. Not even OBD computer can override this old type immo.

After u manage to immobilize the car, u need to tackle the thief thay uses tow truck. U must accept they will get your car on the flat bed or hook it on the truck. You need a very high end alarm system with gps. Its the only way u will be alerted when someone is stealing your ride and have high chance of recovering it. This system will require backup battery as thief will remove your battery if they are smart.

Any system installed must be done in a way the wiring is super concealed.

Any security system will slow them down only. Want to steal, they have their way......lol

1). Dunno sorry.
2). No such thing as "best" anti-theft. You cover all the weak spots and cover everything. There's a security tool that's capable of covering every type of theft method including tow-truck. Just a matter of how much money you have and how much you're looking to spend.

Hood lock, fuel cut, GPS tracker, shock sensor, 2-way warning sensors, camera, anti hijack, anti picklock plates, custom cut-off switches, etc.

Lots of things.

Try choose parallel parking spot, park inside mall which give tow truck impossible/hard time to get away with the car.
If thieves had plan like Ocean 11,12,13 then the car must worth "a lot".
Alarm, hidden kill switches or combo, lock, quick release...etc just to delayed the thieves.

Anyone try gps tracking device using sim card ?

I heard a case from my mechanic, his client have a few cars including an Evo 6.5. Stay is a condo, car basement parking. Car have alarm, GPS tracking and sms alert. He was away outstation, sms and GPS did not work, because basement no signal. Thieves were actually seen by the guard going around, but the thieves were cool, told the guard repairing the car, but was actually disarming the alarm, sms and gps tracking. Not sure if he found the car, no follow up.......lol

In that case can claim from the security company as they have insurance coverage for when things go bad. Will be a lenghty process but can be done.

During my practical days i got a chance to install a GPS/GSM tracking system. When GPS is not available it will uses GSM but GSM wont be as accurate as GPS. It can track up to a certain radius from nearest telco tower. This system can see real live data such as ignition system status and speed. Its a basic system as no vehicle disable system is supported.

Installation is a PITA as wiring must be done in a way its very hard for thief to detect and disable.

This case if the thief knew the car had all that pretty much means the car was targeted and any car that's targeted is 90% a goner.

Haha.. I asked my installer to use all same coloured wires for my alarm install back then, made it a PITA to install but it was glorious to look at. And will be a major PITA to troubleshoot if anything breaks.
