When one of the world’s top Formula One designers decides to pen a racecar uninhibited by regulations or rules, you can be sure the world will sit up and take notice, and it very well did. But until now, Red Bull’s X1 Prototype car, designed by Adrian Newey, has only been a product of the virtual world. Now, it has made the transition to reality, albeit with some awesomeness left behind in the virtual world.

Although just a model, it gives a rough idea of the actual product in the flesh. Furthermore, it’s mentioned that the first reports of the car’s gas-turbine engine and CVT matchup were incorrect. Instead, a Formula One-derived direct-injection 3-liter twin turbo V6 will be powering the front wheels. No word yet on the transmission of choice but power is rated at 1,483hp@15,000rpm and 712Nm@12,000rpm.

The life-sized model will be the guest of honour at the GT5 launch party in Madrid that has been tentatively set around November 24/25, having been pushed back a month from the initial date of October 26. This lines up perfectly with the new release date set for the November 29-December 3 week, just in time for the Christmas shopping period.

Whether or not the car will actually move under its own power, we’re more interested in if we’ll live long enough to actually see the game released.

was about to ask the same thing... fwd wif dat much power is just...:stupid:

Adrian Newey was with Williams and he is the one designed Senna's car in 1994.. he was with McLaren, designing state-of-the-art machine the MP4 models.. Ron never wanted him to leave.

Yea was about to ask the same as well! Must be wrong, cuz in the picture, obviously there's no drive train running to the front wheels, only suspension arms there, so it must be a RWD.
