that's actually not a bad colour.. hmmm
Estoril Blau is a BMW M color. Get the painter to spray it on a model first and see if they got the shade right. You don’t want to end up with Benetton blue or some other funky shade of blue.

Curious, yr jz came from what model half cut ?
I have a feeling the ecu cant communicate with the A650E.Hi guys,
Just curious, can i mate the Toyota A650E to the 1JZGTE VVTI in my car now ? Stock 1JZ comes with 4 speeder, i assume the extra 1 gear will have better gas mileage and feels better (5 speed manual like).
Thanks,
Ken
I have a feeling the ecu cant communicate with the A650E.
I understand your idea behind this, I also thought of swapping over my A340E for one with more speeds, having a final ratio of 0.688 would help with highway cruising, but the ECU itself may not know that there is a higher gear in the newer gearbox and thus will probably not upshift in best case scenario. However, looking at specs for A650E, your highway cruising will actually suffer as the final ratio is actually higher ,at 0.753 vs your original 4th speed at 0.705.Think will give up on the idea, cause i still need to custom bell housing and long shaft to mate it, too much of money.

You could get a 2.93 rear diff. The VVTI should have plenty of torque to spare
Acceleration definitely better with 3.46. FC probably not that greatCurrently i am already had 3.46, with 4 speeder i think the rev is tolerable at 110 km/h. When hooning the acceleration is there

You're rightThats why i need one more gear !!
Thanks,
Ken

But then mentioned by bro. alcyon your 4 speeder final drive is smaller?Thats why i need one more gear !!
Thanks,

Have you driven your car and checked this yet or like you said, just guessing ? Normally for such displacement of toyotas, the usual diff ratio would normally be 3.7 or 3.9. With your current bimmer diff, the speed reader on the A340E gearbox will probably give a wrong reading. I suggest you turn on your waze and compare the speed against your BMW speedometer, then a decision can be made on what to do next. Conversely, if you still have a pic of that crown engine bay info nameplate, we can find out the diff ratio that came with that car.Well for final drive i also need to look at my rear differential too, now is 3.46, my best guestimation, highway speed at 110 km/h will be somewhere in 2.8K rpm. Adding one more gear could lower the RPM by little bit, say, 2.5k ? Now my mech say it can be done, the TCU has to properly communicate with the ECU of 1JZGTE, with some magic electrical work that is.
no If his is a 4 speed (A340E) it should be the same. 0.705.And yes this final drive actually lower than A650E, So in this case the original 4 speed is better for highway. But then mentioned by bro. alcyon your 4 speeder final drive is smaller?

And also, we need to find out what tyre size was your bimmer originally specced for and also for that crown.
My guess is Your donor car was a crown athlete with 1JZ-GTE, with A340E gearbox, OD ratio 0.705 and diff ratio 3.9

from this website tyre size should be 225/40 R18, diameter 25.1"
Hi Alcyon,
My E46 before engine swapped was having 110 km/h at 3.1K RPM (No kidding). GPS speed is 105 km/h, the original engine is M43B19 with ZF 4 Speeder. If my mechanic and me was not wrong, my rear diff is 4.04, hence, the initial take off for such a small engine on a heavy body is very nice but it would not impress me anymore after 13 years of owning it. I have uploaded the pictures of the engine installed in the bay and the billet mounts that were customed, apparently it was a little thick that i could not close the hood completely as the engine is very near to the hood, skimming 5 mm solved the issue, only thing is, i may not able to fit a struct tower bar. See below:
Thanks,
Ken
