If owning the recently revealed Ford GT seems a bit too extreme to you, then probably the upcoming Focus RS is a better bet instead. And the wait for this new hot hatch to be unveiled is not going to be long after all as Ford is ready to take the covers off their new Focus RS on 3 February.
And building up anticipation before its reveal, Ford had also released a shot video showing the late-stage prototype going sideways on both the road and track in the USA and Belgium. The new RS was confirmed for production since late last year, and it is one of the 12 high performance models under the new Ford Performance banner which will be produced between now until 2020.
Ford has yet to share any specific details of the car, but some had speculated that the Focus RS will be powered by a four-cylinder 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine fitted in the latest Mustang. Power figure is said to be in the region of 330bhp and will also feature Ford’s RevoKnuckle front suspension system which will reduce torque steer.
Mated to the engine is a six-speed manual transmission and it will also be equipped with a limited-slip differential to properly nail the power and torque on the road. Other upgrades over the Focus ST include a lowered chassis paired with a firmer, sportier suspension setup.
