’67 Le Mans champion Ferrari 275 GTB Competitzione was sold for USD 9.4 million!

When cars like the Ferrari 275 GTB Competitzione goes into auction, it will undeniably be catching a lot of attention by wealthy enthusiasts present. Aside from the rarity of the car itself, the value will also go off the roof when the car we are mentioning here is a Le Mans-winning example, grabbing the win back in 1967 in the colours of Scuderia Filipinetti.

And with such credentials being carried by the car, it is no surprise that such a rare machine could fetch a jaw-dropping USD 9,405,000 (RM 33,761,128) at a recent auction in the USA.

The chassis number 09079 car is also the 11th of the 12 cars ever built. The GTB Competitzione cars features a lighter chassis compared to the road going version, larger double fuel tanks and also a new 3.3-liter V1 engine that was modified by the factory themselves to produce more than 300 wild Italian horses.

In the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 275 GTB Competitzione had the upper hand in the GT class from the early stage of the race, and the Swiss duo of Dieter Sporry and Gianwirco Steinemann took the win in the race. The car also managed to secure two more victories at the Spa 1000KM and the Imola 500KM two years later.
