When the fourth generation Subaru Forester was launched locally, we all thought that it was doomed. Well why not? The Forester was famed for its STI counterpart. A 300+ bhp crossover that can smoke a lot of cars, yet at the same time, practical enough to carry the family around (plus the Ikea shopping trips). Despite that, the previous generation Forester (third generation) oddly dropped the whole STI set up.
Now it seems like the good folks at Subaru has finally done something about it. The fourth generation Subaru Forester will be getting the STI treatment (no pun intended) and will make a global debut later next month.
Like other hot STI models, the Forester STI will be painted in the same shade of Blue Pearl that adorns other STI models. Besides that, expect the same pink accents that other STI models has. The new Forester STI will also feature improved cooling and aerodynamics and stronger brakes. In terms of engine, the top-of-the-line Forester 2.0 XT has 276 horses under the hood, while the 2014 Subaru WRX STI has 305 horses. We predict that the Forester STI should have close to 300 horses as well, if not more.
The Subaru Forester STI will debut on November 25, so do stay tuned to zerotohundred.com.
