LAUNCH: Ducati Monster Diesel (RM118,888) and Diavel Cromo (RM124,888)

Following the announcement of the second biennial 2012 Asia Ducati Week, the next order of business was to pull the sheets off Ducati Malaysia’s newest offering to members of the press that would be the Ducati Monster Diesel – or so we thought, and no it doesn’t run on diesel. However, it was in fact a surprise handover to the new owner, who in turn presented it to his surprised wife as a gift – with flowers of course!

The new Ducati Monster Diesel is in fact, much like the Diavel AMG, a partnership between two companies – in this case it’s between Ducati and iconic fashion brand, Diesel, that offers an interesting blend of an ‘iconic naked motorcycle’ with ‘urban military chic’ on a Monster 1100 EVO that’s equipped with Ducati’s first dual-valve motor (capable of hitting the 100bhp mark), a new exhaust system, Marzochoni front suspension and comfort-enhanced ergonomics – which Renzo Rosso (founder of Diesel) used as his ‘canvas’ to produce the Ducati Brave Green matte livery.

When Lob Mohd Abdul Shukor (a long-time member of Malaysia’s local Ducati community) approached Ducati Malaysia with his plan to surprise his wife, Norcilla Omar, with a romantic surprise gesture to present her with her own bike, Ducati Malaysia saw it as the perfect opportunity to provide him with an exclusive event to hand over the keys of the Monster Diesel to Norcilla at the Press Room in Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC).

The new Ducati Monster Diesel comes with a price tag of RM118,888 and carries with it the Diesel label, which can be found proudly stitched onto the right side of the leather-clad seat and its logo has been laser engraved into the aluminium air-intakes. Further personalization can be had with a metal plaque attached to the re-shaped passenger seat as well.

Additionally, Ducati also showcased a shiny new Diavel CROMO that was readily available for viewing as well and comes with a price tag of RM124,888.
