964 Ferraris Set a New World Record at Silverstone

Way back in 2007, Ferrari secured themselves a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records; not for any performance achievements of any sort, but for the largest parade of Ferrari cars. With 385 Prancing Horses made their way to the Silverstone Circuit and fulfilling the requirements of driving for at least two miles and no further than two car lengths apart, they had their brief moment in the spotlight which was then taken by the Japanese a year after with 490 Ferraris lapping the Suzuka Circuit.

Keen to reclaim the title, Ferrari UK did not only plan to beat the old record, but to obliterate it with a nice, huge gathering of 1,000 cars at the Silverstone Classic. Did they manage to reach the magical number? With still a massive turn-up of 964 Ferraris, it was undeniably a great achievement that gave them back the crown for having the largest parade of Prancing Horses.

The parade saw a huge number of almost any Ferrari that one could think of; 458s, F430s, 360s, Enzos, F40s, you name it. And leading this record-shattering parade was Ferrari’s own hot shot himself, Felipe Massa behind the wheels of an Italia Spider.

“It’s a great honor for me to be here for such a special event, with so many cars all brought together on one racetrack, which produced an unprecedented spectacle for all Prancing Horse fans”, said the 31-year-old Scuderia Ferrari driver.

So could the Japanese once again challenge the record set by the Brits, or will this record stand for years to come? Nothing is impossible, and the record might be challenged by some other supercar-filled nations like the ones in Middle East or even the rapidly-rising China. Whoever the challenger might be, let us just enjoy the sights and sounds of Enzo Ferrari’s magnificent creations for the time being.
