Video: The GT-R And Its 7:29 At The Nurburgring – For Porsche Fans

nur-7-29-0011For all you non-JDM fans who doubt the GT-R’s ‘Ring busting capabilities, Nissan has released two video’s of its supercar attacking the ‘Ring and achieving the famed 7:29 during the pre-launch testing period. Bear in mind that the car used for the official lap time is carrying more than 50kgs of test equipment. Hope this silents critiques and brings this controversy to an end, but if Porsche and Nissan decide to go head-to-head at the ‘Ring, then please, by all means, entertain us!!

What am I looking at?

The vid shows 7:38:54 but we are talking about a 7:29 run?

You may have the wrong vid attached.

Just because it's Japanese made and it has totally stunned the world has made me think that Porsche is jealous. Because usually many European are proud of their sportscar/supercar, and then suddenly this thing came and 'kill' almost all of the sportscar/supercar they have made, so I think it makes them feel threatened.

My 2 cents.

Just want to give u guys some trivia.. last year, Porsche tested here with 2008 911 GT2, used semi slick..took 7:32 . This year, in April, GTR + stock tyre took 7:29 (maybe what we watched here is the video). Just last month when people like me had a fasting Ramadhan mood, Porsche did a test again with 911 GT2 (same model as previous)stock tyres,7:32 and 911 Turbo stock tyres,7:38. 911 GT3 7:42, 911 GT3RS 7:43...
we've seen 4 Porsches (need to repeat what models?) against 1 GTR, still...the crown goes to the "U-KNOW-WHO" at least for d time beeing.

It's funny i saw the official released video by Nissan on youtube if you watch the timing points for start and end there is a degree of variance. But it seems irrespective, the GT-R would have crossed that point in .2 extra of a second but interesting to note all the same.

That's the link check it out.

Honestly i think the only reason why Porsche is making such a big fuss is because Nissan choose to hammer their times. I guess they are warranted for having sour grapes.

Either way it will be really exciting once the Lexus LF-A and the V10 Honda arrive on the scene. Doubtful that they will be as cheap as the GT-R tho.

Maserati MC12 smashes Nürburgring record
British performance car magazine, Evo, is claiming to have smashed the production car lap record at the tortuous 20 km German Nürburgring race track in a Maserati MC12, taking just 7:24.29 minutes to lap the circuit name as ‘the green hell’ and regarded as the ultimate test of a super car.
Italian trident marque rules.
