Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 19 December 2008. A1 Team Malaysia commercial partner, PLUS EXPRESSWAYS BERHAD, held a special launch event for the company’s new loyalty programme, which was attended by race team members. Rookie driver, Aaron Lim, was among five celebrities who were the first recipients of the PLUSmiles loyalty card. PLUS is the first highway concessionaire in Asia to introduce such a loyalty programme aimed at rewarding loyal customers of the PLUS and ELITE highways for their continuous support.
Lim joined a host of VIPs at the launch ceremony held at the Sungai Buloh Overhead Bridge Restaurant including Malaysia’s First Lady of Song, Datuk Sharifah Aini, North-South Pole explorer Datin Paduka Sharifah Mazlina, and popular recording artiste/composer, Faizal Tahir.
The PLUSmiles card will entitle cardholders to a five per cent toll rebate with a minimum usage of RM200 a month Cardholders will also enjoy other privileges and discounts offered by participating outlets such as Burger King, KFC, A&W, Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins and Grand Paradise Hotels as well as partners such as AAM, Speedway PLUS karting circuit, Sheraton Subang Hotel & Towers and Cathay Cinemas.
Lim, one of the first recipients of the card, was proud to be invited to be part of the launch and be part of the loyalty programme. He said after the launch, “It is a real privilege to be one of the first holders of a PLUSmiles card and I’ll certainly be making good use of it.”
Owen Leed, Commercial Director, A1 Team Malaysia, added, “PLUS has been a very loyal supporter of the team and we’re very proud to be associated with such a forward thinking, innovative Malaysian company. I’m sure that this will be a highly successful programme.”
Khalilah Talha, General Manager Corporate Communications of PLUS, said that A1TM was chosen as one of the celebrity recipients of the PLUSmiles card because of the team’s popularity and growing reputation among motorsports fans. “We also appreciate that A1TM and their Fanzone members regularly use our highways so by having Aaron on board, we hope to get others to subscribe to PLUSmiles too and enjoy the many privileges offered.” She also said that special promotions and joint campaigns will be held in the near future with A1TM.
A1 Team Malaysia has competed in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport since its inception in 2005, with PLUS joining the team’s blue-chip roster of commercial partners in the second season.
The team will return to track action next year with the fourth event of the 2008/09 season taking place in Taupo, New Zealand, from 23-25 January 2009.
