Digital Sound Adjustment (DSA MAX): This unit is equipped with a digital sound calibration feature called DSA MAX. It provides you with 3 self-calibrating user equalizers (EQ1, EQ2 and EQ3), each consisting of a 27-band graphic equalizer and four separate channels: front left, front right, rear left and rear right. EQ1 is used for the driver only, EQ2 for the driver and a front passenger, and EQ3 for front and rear occupants. By using the supplied microphone, the equalizers can be calibrated and EQ values automatically set, or the graphic EQ settings can be adjusted manually. The values of the vehicle's acoustics can be viewed with or without equalization.

Sound Presets: Another feature of the DSA MAX is the use of Sound Presets for various music styles. These presets are added to the settings of the active user EQ to give you optimal sound for each music type. You can select from the following music style presets: Vocal, Disco, Rock, Jazz, and Classical.

Stage Effects: You can activate a Stage Effect which repositions the music in front of the driver and/or the passenger. This gives you the impression you are standing right in front of a stage. You can select from the following Stage Effects: Left (driver only), Right (passenger only) or Front (driver and passenger).

Sound Effects: You can choose between five different Sound Effects for your music, each reproducing the ambience and reverberations found in each setting: Cathedral, Theater, Concert, Club, and Stadium.

Dynamic Noise Covering (DNC): The Dynamic Noise Covering feature increases the unit's volume as ambient road or wind noise increases. The volume is boosted by a different amount for each frequency band depending on how noise develops in the vehicle. Noises that last only a short time, such as crossing railroad tracks, are not taken into account. The supplied microphone allows you to calibrate the DNC system and continually monitor the level of sound in the vehicle. You can turn the DNC on or off, and adjust the sensitivity of the DNC by selecting a setting between DNC 1 (least sensitive) and DNC 5 (most sensitive).

German-born-and-bred, Blaupunkt (also known as Blau) make up a much larger portion of the car audio market than many people realise. Countless cars actually come from the factory with Blau audio visual equipment as standard and for a company to achieve this level of market saturation, it needs to know what it is doing. To demonstrate this point further, Blau has branched out over the years from developing quality OEM equipment to offering its consumers a full range of aftermarket high end products as well — everything from debilitating subwoofers to amplifiers powerful enough to run full surround systems.

Add to this navigation, processors and a serious line-up of head units, and you begin to get the picture that Blau mean business in today’s high demand market. This time around it’s one of the latter on the bench for review — the Bremen MP74 receiver.
The Equipment

The Bremen MP74 is one of Blau’s more serious offerings to its audiophile customers. It’s capable of playing numerous media formats with superior clarity than many other decks in the Blaupunkt range. The unit is designed to allow the user total control over every facet of the sound without getting too carried away with endless features. Playback media include CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 (the deck supports variable bit rates from 8-320 kBit) and Window media file (WMA).

Via the intelligent bus system, the unit interfaces with numerous other Blaupunkt products such as TV tuners, 5.1 channel Dolby Digital / DTS processors, DVD players and DVD / CD changers and navigation. By simply adding certain optional extras (such as the ODA surround amplifier) you’ll easily have your Bremen MP74 up and running an entire in-car multi channel theatre.

The Bremen MP74 feature list is quite an impressive repertoire. Starting with the receiver, it not only accepts AM and FM but also MW, LW and SW and can actually store 42 station presets in total. The deck also has the ability to accept transmitted radio data (RDS & EON). These two technologies allow the deck to receive additional information from radio stations (such as traffic and weather information) but to date, this concept is yet to really take off in Australia. The deck can display up to 128 media directories and also supports ID3 tagging for up to 30 characters.

Also present are all the usual bass, treble, balance, fade, mix and scan functions. The internal amplifier is rated at 26 watts continuous into four channels (fifty watts max) and has a neat feature called dynamic noise covering which helps maximise sound quality but keeps unwanted system noise to a minimum.

RCA outputs is another area where Blau don’t skimp. Instead of just the usual front and rear, it offers three sets of five-volt gold-plated pre-outs including front, rear, subwoofer and center channels.

The deck also has a neat little function which Blau calls a digital self-adjusting (DSA) equaliser. This is basically a 27-band equaliser (including crossover, phase controller and subsonic filter) which not only has multiple pre-set curves but also numerous user pre-sets, allowing you to have different setting for different genres of music. If you’re not too sure what to do you can also plug a small microphone into the deck and let it automatically set the equaliser to match your car. To top it off, the deck has an auxiliary input, dual-zone audio ability and an automatic volume control that can adjust the volume, depending on outside road noise.
Easy Access

The Bremen MP74 comes complete with everything needed to mount the unit in most cars safely and securely. Both a hand-held and steering wheel remote control are included for those amongst us that struggle to reach the dash. The motorised flip down face is smartly finished with a neat blend of brightly-painted silver plastic which felt a little flimsy initially.

The soft-key control buttons run up each side of the large centre display while the rotary knobs are located to the sides of them. This allows you to easily navigate the deck face without viewing it, once you know where everything is. The open button is at the top right of the face and when it fl ips down you see it’s not as flimsy as first appearances suggest.

Hi guys,

I would like to know if Audi car manufacture provide warranty extension for the car that is built on 2011 and expiring in a year. As you all know that Audi without a warranty it’s like (expensive gearbox, engine oil xd) and so on. So if any of you guys have any idea regarding the matter, please share..

Thank you.
