Street demos have been quite a staple diet for promoting Formula One here in Malaysia and for the first time ever, Team Lotus, in collaboration with Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and Air Asia, will be putting on a street demo at the heart of the country’s administrative capital, Putrajaya, on 2 April, Saturday.

Team Lotus drivers Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen will put on a thrilling show for their fans in the Lotus T128 machine at the main street in front of the Palace of Justice. The event is part of the promotional build up for the Malaysian Grand Prix that will be held over the 8-10 April weekend at SIC.

“This will be the first ever demo in Putrajaya and this fantastic event is aimed at building the F1 excitement for the fans and to tell them the 2011 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix is near,” says SIC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ahmad Razlan Ahmad Razali.

“It is also aimed at creating the excitement of F1 and for greater awareness on the sports; bringing fans closer to the race. We also hope that it would create more interest among the motorsports fans especially at the grassroots,” he added.

The demonstration will also see a parade of the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) cars that will be on action over the Formula One weekend as a support race. There will also be a drift demonstration, pocket bike demo and a supermotard stunt display as well as an AirAsia A320 fly-by.

Entry is free for the event with stage activities kicking off at 10am before the street demo and real action starts at 2pm.
