Yup, to me that's the most pleasant surprise I got from having that car. Before buying, I was already expecting FC somewhere around 8-9km/ltr only. I think the GDi along with its high compression is the major contributor of this good FC.
Compared with your older Mitsubishi engines, I think this Mark X is doing better FC?

Hmm my 4G93 actually had pretty good FC also but anyway not really comparable coz totally different driving environment: lower fuel octane and probably lower quality too, much more traffic jams, worse road condition. I'm sure this Mark X will have worse FC if driven in Jakarta, maybe just 8-9km/ltr at best.

Also, tyre size would effect fuel consumption. My colleague changed his myvi stock tyre size from 175/65/r14 to 195/55/r15 had incurred extra 3-5% fuel consumption....Sometimes even more....

Yes, that one already bigger total diameter and also wider tires, plus maybe he also used better performance tires, hence all those contribute to the increased FC.

You're probably right since at there, you spent more time idling and burning fuel during traffic jam instead of doing any real mileage.

Maybe the tyres your friend used is more grippy. Higher rolling resistance and the engine needed to work more to move the car.
