Toyota’s upcoming rear-wheel drive sports car, developed in collaboration with Subaru, was always rumoured to be powered by a 2-liter boxer engine from Subaru. In that case, is this new FT-86 logo lifted off the net is anything to go by, it all but confirms that a boxer lump will indeed find its way under the hood of the car.

The nifty journos at Car and Driver magazine have managed to get their hands on the logo for the FT-86 that clearly shows a stylised 86 with a horizontally opposed cylinder on each side.

Apart from confirming that the FT-86 will sport a boxer lump under the hood, the logo is also proof that the ‘86’ moniker will make it to the final alphanumerical name of the car, in true homage to the AE86 it’s based on.
