While speculation is the fuel of the internet that we can’t live without, overkill is a common problem that the rumour mill can’t find a balance with. Topic in point, you could probably fill all the pages of a male social-reject’s porno magazine collection with the stuff that’s been generated regarding the Toyota FT-86.
From delays, to cancellations, to being back on track and then repeating the cycle all over again, the latest one sees the rumoured sedan version of the FT-86.
As is always the case with, details are tantamount to zilch. There are some whispers though that the four-door version will be virtually identical to the coupe. So expect the same naturally-aspirated 2-liter boxer engine sitting up front mated to a six-speed manual driving the rear wheels.
The logic behind the sedan rumours though are reasonable and fall in line Toyota’s ‘safe’ approach towards making cars these days. Just in case the coupe fails to be a sales success, the sedan would be a somewhat ‘safety net’ that should appeal to a wider audience.
The one thing that hasn’t changed though with all the rumours is the perennial wait until we see some solid evidence the FT-86 is on track to showroom floors.
