Grass Racing Autosports Autocross Championships Final Round 5 2008

Petaling Jaya 19th December – Grass Racing Autosports also known as GRA would be running its final round of the season this weekend in the Shah Alam Stadium Car Park. Malaysia’s premier autocrossing community in its 3rd year running has successfully made grassroots motorsports a possibility for avid motorsports enthusiasts along with the support of Motorsports Association of Malaysia. GRA with its brand partners of Meguiar’s Detailing Products, Red Line Synthetic Oils, Vanli Distributor of Genuine Parts, and Gophers Personal Navigation System has enabled the series to be a championship series throughout this season. Head Of GRA Ms. Low Jian Nin said, ‘ This final round would be interesting as some of the title chasers would be vying for every single point possible to seal their Class and Overall Championship standings’.

The Overall Championship standings has Andy Kow with a lead of 30 points and Ivan Khong trailing in 2nd spot with 27 points and Jason Foo with 23 points. It would be a fight to the finish for the title. Ivan Khong however would be at a disadvantage to defend his 2007 title, as he is without his Subaru Impreza 4WD Turbo for this round.

This Sunday’s race in Shah Alam would be having the Grass Class drivers starting in the morning from 8am – 11am. The Grass Class or Novice drivers would be vying for their individual class championships. For the Grass Class Overall Championships, hot favourite Garick Goh has a 4 point lead over Julian Foo both in Proton Satrias 1.6. Charlie Ling is a further 6 points adrift to Garick. However all 3 drivers have been consistently exchanging podium positions from round 1 to round 4, and this round 5 would be the decider on who takes back GRA’s First Ever Grass Class Championship Award.

The course for this Sunday is expected to be a tricky one with higher technical aspect to every sector. Ambassador to GRA Ian Khong explained, ‘ As we progress with GRA in our 3rd year, we have realized that most of our GRA drivers have increased tremendously in driving and racing skills. Thus in any event they enter out of GRA, we have them winning it, almost all 90% of them will win in other autocrossing events’. GRA sets the pace in today’s autocrossing community with a strong following of drivers. .

Mr. CK Lim from Vanli Genuine Parts said, ‘GRA is a good platform for new drivers, and noticeably we have been achieving brand awareness in every race that we are in’.

Mr. Selva from Gophers Personal Navigation System said, ‘We love ground events and GRA is one events that we love to be a part of. Some of the drivers have installed our GPS to see the highest speed clocked, and it shows what our GPS can do’.

Mr. Johan Wong from Meguiar’s said, ‘ GRA is now becoming a regular name amongst car enthusiast drivers and detailers alike. We look forward to Round 5 with Kenneth Chiew from Team Meguiar’s taking the Overall Champion for Class OA’.

Mr. Howard Goh of Red Line said, ‘ Team Red Line would be aiming high for the Final Round. It would be a well fought season with the top drivers with or without the Overall Title’.

The RaceQueens would be available for photograph sessions with the media and fans at around noon time this Sunday. So make your way to GRA’s Final Round in Shah Alam this weekend of the 21st December 2008. For more details please log onto www.grassracingautosports.com
