Well I don't see it that way. The brand name doesn't make that much difference to me since I consider VW as a pretty good German brand anyway. One is just another ordinary 180hp sedan, and the other is a high performance 265hp AWD sports car. So IMHO the Golf R is still a lot better value for the money comparatively for that price range.
