The All new Nissan Latio - life’s little luxuries

Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) announced the launching of the all-new Nissan Latio & Latio Sport. The Latio mid-size sedan will be offered in both 1.8-litre and 1.6-litre engine variants; whereas the Latio Sport, the hatchback variant, is only offered with a 1.6-litre engine.

The name Latio is derived from the English word “Latitude” signifying freedom of action.

Nissan’s Latio is currently the best selling Nissan model globally. The Latio has been enjoying sales success all over the world as the Tiida in Japan，the Versa in United States and the Latio in many of Nissan’s General Overseas Markets (GOM). This global model has received many awards and accolades such as the “Inter-American Car of The Year 2007”, “Best Compact Car” and “Best Small Japanese Car” in the Middle East, “Best in the Entry Midsize Car Segment” by J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2006, Initial Quality Survey in China etc.

This model is assembled at Tan Chong Motor’s brand new Serendah plant utilising the Nissan Production Way (NPW) which is Nissan’s international standard for global quality manufacturing and vehicle assembly.

The innovative Latio is the first Japanese CKD model in Malaysia to be equipped with the new generation intelligent keyless system – the I-key.

The new Nissan Latio delivers the best in class roominess with an interior length of over 2.0metres and headroom clearance of 125mm. It is also big on comfort with king size front seats and plenty of room for 5 adults to enable all passengers to stretch out their legs in relaxed comfort.

The Latio 1.8Ti & 1.6 ST-L come with rear seats that split-fold 60/40 to allow easy expansion for larger luggage capacity and long items.

Zesty in style and ideally proportioned, the Latio offers a modern, premium-quality interior that exceeds the class standard for this category of vehicles by making extensive use of soft materials to create the luxurious interior.

Special care is given to the selection of high-quality seat fabrics and stitching quality. Latio is set apart from its competitors with detail interior finishing touches such as the ultra-soft cushions for the parts which passengers are likely to touch frequently such as on door armrests and centre console armrest.

Distinctive woodgrain trim is used for the dashboard panelling, shift lever knob and power window switch finishers. The woodgrain trim creates a modern and elegant ambience that comes standard for the Latio sedan 1.8Ti and 1.6 ST-L.

The Latio 1.8Ti also comes with an interior flood light to provide a pleasant ambience in the cabin during night driving.

The Latio Sport comes with a black colour themed interior with silver panel details to give it a sporty modern look.

Latio Sport (Hatchback):
· The Latio Sport features flexible rear seats that can slide up to 240mm, making it possible for passengers to enjoy more knee room or larger luggage space. The luggage area with the rear seat moved all the way forward will increase the luggage capacity to 463 litres.

· This modern hatchback comes with a black colour themed interior with silver panel details to give it a sporty modern look.

Half Leather seat (Black) is an optional accessory for the Latio Sport.

Comfortable, Safe Driving Experience
The Latio is designed with both driver and passengers’ safety in mind and is equipped with a high level of standard safety equipment to offer advance impact safety and control safety. The Zone Body construction and SRS dual front airbags protect driver and passengers. The ABS with Braking Assist and EBD ensures safer braking. To lessen any injuries that may occur due to impact inside the cabin during a side collision, the inner side of the front, centre and rear pillars as well as the roof sides has additional padding protection to absorb an impact.

All these features contribute to the Latio achieving the maximum Japanese New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) safety rating of 6 stars.
This model is equipped with an advanced suspension system that delivers peak performance on any road surface. The suspension system incorporates internal rebound springs and ripple control shock absorbers enabling Latio to provide outstanding handling and stability combined with supple ride comfort.

Latio 1.8Ti is the only vehicle in its class to offer Bi-Xenon headlights.

The basic functionality of a car is never compromised with this hatchback, as the flexibility of space usage is optimized with sliding rear seats. And luggage room can accommodate two suitcases even when using the full 240mm slide adjustment of the car seats to maximise leg space.

Intelligent Key (Sedan 1.8Ti and Hatchback 1.6ST-L only)
The innovative Latio is the first Japanese CKD model in Malaysia to be equipped with the new generation intelligent keyless system – the I-key.
The I-key, a design item by itself that fits snugly in the hand, is a feature that is normally found only in very high end luxury vehicles. With the I-key in the pocket, the driver can easily open the passengers’ doors or rear trunk at a touch of the button on the door itself; and allow keyless starting of the engine. For extra security, the Latio is fitted with the Nissan Anti Theft System (NATS) immobiliser and panic alarm.

Next-generation Engines
The Latio is powered by a choice of Nissan’s advanced all aluminium MR-series 1.8-litre engine and HR-series 1.6-litre engine that provide brisk driving performance with exceptional fuel economy. Thanks to CVTC and drive-by-wire technologies.
