I am a bit puzzled. How is it 'room bar' is legal while roll cage isn't?

When I look at the above pic, I don't think I want to sit in the rear. In the event of a front/rear collision, and the rear passenger isn't belted properly, what happens to their legs?

thats why it needs additional bracket to hold it firmly and not crumple easily

Gotta hide that room bar under the carpet so that parents don't catch me modding my car. :burnout:

you plan to change your suspension first before touching the rear arb?
Yes. I want to gauge how much the car rolls after installing the coilovers. Then decide how thick the arbs should be.

In case anyone misunderstood my earlier sentence, I meant to say "forget the rear tower strut bar if you are going to go ftuned coilovers".
Lol .. I had to read that twice before I understood.

you mention it was good on 195/60R15. 215/45R17 are performance tyres
vr2turbo's analysis is spot on. How come he's so familiar with your car? Must be parking right next to you.

Upsizing by 2X makes a lot of difference. On the old tyres, the thicker 65 profile cushions the road vibrations. Not that much gets transmitted into chassis. With the much harder 45s, your chassis speaks to you in an angry tone. Can you feel it via your steering?

That's why I mentioned SR/RaceTech chassis alignment kit helped with the wira. Without them, a lot of vibrations gets transmitted back into the cabin.

as for the room bar...what in my mind tells me for anybody who wants to install it, get it a step further...weld some bracket in the middle of transmission tunnel/chassis tunnel/exhaust tunnel and secure the bar using the front seat rails mounting point....that should prevent this happen.. (the bar folded when subjected to side impact) or perhaps can ask UR to create their room bar version 2 with that additional bracket
Why don't they design the room bar to be placed right in front of the hump of the rear seats? That way, the bar won't be in the way of the passenger's legs.

Sounds like a plan. Why not? Whereabouts do you stay? Let's PM. I'm curious to know about pricing of foaming.
Remember the mamak I suggested in the ZTH Cheras thread? I live nearby. Anybody else wants to take a peek? Specially those entertaining the thought of foaming their rides.

I know. Aha. Not sure of their UR bars are adjustable. I do know you can get em made at UR themselves though.
Ah, I see now. I must have caused confusion when I said .. "gauge how much the car rolls after installing the coilovers. Then decide how thick the arbs should be".

Actually by "how thick" I meant choosing between the 16, 19 or 23 which UR currently offers. Currently thinking of getting 19mm but if new coilovers with stiffer spring produces less body roll, then will settle for 16mm units.

Please give me some suggestion if getting a manual or auto transmission better as im ok with both. As it is a classic, will auto bring more problems?

I'm from JB..

Thanks
