Can the Caldina engine be mated to a 2 wheel FF auto trans, if the Caldina cut came originally with auto trans ?
Bro, i recalled. ST215 and ST146 are 4WD.
No point to plug in 4WD to FW, it just eat more fuel and lesser power range. I would suggest why not get the ST202, 3S-GE FW auto gearbox if you need a auto.
Caldina its either ST215 or ST146. normally it comes with 4WD semi-auto gearbox and rare Manual gearbox.
ST182, 183, 184 and 201, 202, 203 are all auto gearbox and it’s FW.
Only ST185 and ST205 has originally Manual, ST215 and ST246 for manual gearbox is very rare and it’s JDM only.
If ST215 or ST246 semi-auto tend to change to Manual.
Yes, of cause for the hardware wise, no problem.
But you'll not gain any hi-end power, as the ST215/246 runs on semi-auto and the power range will be trigger automatically to release by semi-auto’s ecu and engine ecu.
After you've changed it from semi-auto to manual the auto gearbox's ecu will be taken out and therefore there's no where else can trigger the hi-end power. Eventually it needs the engine ecu and gearbox ecu to match for the out put power.
It has been tested by my mech previously. Unless you're using after market ecu like haltech and staff, or else no point. You can try first but it's just wasting more money only.
The Rav4 I mentioned, originally Manual version and g/b having some problem, that’s why he changed to ST185 4WD manual system in complete set. But his now looking for ST205 complete 4WD g/b set.
