SEPANG: Tickets for the 12-hour Petronas Primax 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance (MME) race went for RM10 each in previous editions. But for the eighth edition at the Sepang F1 Circuit from Aug 23-25, it will cost only 50 sen.
The decision to reduce the price was taken by the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) in conjunction with the 50th National Day celebrations.
The project manager for the MME, Mashithah Hashim, said: “The collection from ticket sales will go to welfare organisations to be announced later.”
The MME will be a carnival event this year. Besides the endurance race, there will be entertainment shows and car carnivals.
“We expect about 10,000 people to attend this year's event.
“We are also hoping that individual as well as corporations would come forward to increase the collection of funds,” said Mashithah.
The categories contested are Class A (more than 1,900cc), Class B (between 1,801cc and 1,900cc) and Class C (below 1,800cc). The closing date for entries is Aug 16.
Only a maximum of 77 cars will be allowed to contest on race day on Aug 25, beginning at 11am. If there are more than 77 entries, a qualifying session will be held the previous day.
A total of 25 cars will be allowed to race in both Class A and Class B and 27 cars for Class C.

Sim,
the promo is for spectator not for the fee competing in the race.
Anyway, if your car can qualify for the race, you still need two more drivers to compliment you.
The race requires 3 drivers per car.

I might attend.
Just waiting for the date of the race to come nearer to confirm I have no class on that day.
Team Petronas is racing a new BMW Z4 M coupe in this year's MME race in the open class.
It will definitely be an interesting race.

The Z4 M Coupe housed a 3.2L 330bhp engine from the E46 M3 with 6 speed manual transmission. It comes with 18-inch wheels, stability control, cross-drilled rotors, a variable M limited-slip differential and hydraulic rack and pinion steering. 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds claimed with top speed of 250 km/h limited. Power for the Z4 M Coupe is 252kW/343bhp.

The Z4 has a range of straight 6 cylinder engines namely the 2.2L(170bhp), 2.5L(192bhp), 3.0L(231bhp) and 3.2L(330bhp) plus a 2.0L straight 4 cylinder engine. The 3.0L engine was installed in the M Roadster while the rest were installed on normal Z4s except for the 3.2L engine on the M Roadster and M Coupe.

The racing version of the Z4 M Coupe 3.2L engine was reinforced and modified until it can churned out a whooping 400hp with power delivered around 294kw/400hp. It weights at 1200kg.
