im currently using this type of tyre
the side of tyre is a bit 'benjol' means the tyre is bigger than the rim
i want to know if im using 50series can i get the tyre same level with the side of the rim
i hope you guys can understand what i mean

Ooo... u mean sidewall isn't it?

Dunno abt dat... but I'm sure if you get a wider rim it shud not benjol a lot

maybe u shud try 6.5 inch width or even 7inch? got my idea from here >> Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible Page 4 of 4 ...just scroll to the An ideal rim-width calculator section

For example... my kancil's using 165/60/13 on a standard daihatsu mira L5 rims which have 4.5inch width... and it benjol quite a lot... based on the calculator mentioned, it says that 4.5inch width is the minimum...

so..it kinda true when I saw my fren using the same tyre size but with a wider rim @ 5.5inch... the sidewall straighter...

actually im using 7inch rim
i kinda confused because there is one mech told me that this is because of the rim is too wide.
if the tyre is too benjol it makes the rim looks smaller.

  1. 55 section are too tall.. maybe 50 shud remedy it
  2. i've heard formula d-01 (or any dunlops for that matter) is not rigid...maybe bridgestones or falkens with ur rim shud give it a straighter sidewall?

I've seen a 165 tyre on a 6.5... so 7 inch is still acceptable for a 195..IMHO la

I've just done a random google.. and

Dis came from here >> Baleno Wheel thread - Page 5 - Team-BHP

Excerpt >> "They are Luff 7JJX15.0 and Tyres Eagle F1 GSD3's 195/55 R15."

Don't seem to bulging right?

but then, it came from the Net... we should wait for a real pictured example of using the rim/tire combo

From what i see...... this tyre have softer sidewall which makes the tyre looks bulgy.....from my experience with falken 912 195/55/15 with 6.5jj rim which have soft sidewall...my tire looks bulgy. But my friends that wear falken 523 which have rim guard and harder sidewall looks flat even the tire and rim dimension is the same.....

If that's the case, could some forummers list down which brand of tyres produce a sidewall/rim protector so in the future others wouldnt ended up buying buldging tyres...
