Recently my power steering hose was leaking...

My mechanic dismantle the hose and sent for re-machining a new hose...

Thought my problem was over... but unfortunately not yet...

Another section of the hose leak again, there was a long part, and and a shorter part of the hose.

In between the sections there was I think a pressure valve...

After re-machining the shorter hose, then I thought my problem is solved, but again no!

This time, when the power steering fliud is being poured, the power steering runs very silently and
    perfectly...

But after 5 minutes or so, the humming noise and the power steering pump became noisy again as before...:rofl:

Can anyone experienced this before tell what could be the cause?

Or can anyone suggest what are the causes?

    Please help! Thanks...:confused::itsme:

Your power steering hoses need machining? I know air con hoses needs that, and my ride power steering hoses are just normal hoses secure with clips....:hmmmm:

let's wait for the TS to reply on car model. Maybe it's one of those cars with those brass metal hoses. Or he means those metal tubes on the steering rack. Or something else.

Its rubber hose which can withstand high pressure fliud flow..

    The model is W211

The hose is at the bottom of the front below the radiator..

What do you guys think could be the cause?

The steering also is a bit heavier at times...

Could it be the fluid not flowing to the pump, could the pressure valve be clogged with dirt?

In that case I don't understand what your mech did when he "machined" the hose?

heavier steering could be attributed to wheel alignment, tyre, power steering rack, erm.. tierod - is that what it's called? Forgot what that thing is connecting your power steering rack to the wheels. Clogged valve is possible but the power steering system is an enclosed system, meaning it's not exposed to dirt or air. If your power steering fluid is regularly changed and it's still dirty, then it's very likely the power steering rack oil seals are kaput and you're getting a leak there somewhere.

    Yup, is called tie-rod end.
    Bro. Les,
Heavy steering can also be pump having problem, belt driving the pump is loose/slipping.
Steering fluid usually does not get dirty. Mine after years of use, only changed because hose leak only..

Sound like your power steering pump and rack need to be check also aside from hose

Today I found out that my hose still leaks!

    WTF !

Probably it could be a sabo job!

Either by my mechanic or the machine shop person!

Since there is a leak, the pressure is not enough for the fluid to force into the pump thereby its noisy.

Spent the following on this stupid hose...

    Machining of hose RM100 X 2 times................................RM200
Labour of dismantle & fixing of hose RM40 X 2 times........ RM 80
    Power steering fliud (actually its ATF) RM10 X 2 times.......RM 20
    TOTAL SPENT..............................................................RM 300
And loss hours waiting 4 hours X 2 ....8 hours!

Do you think I should go for the 3rd machining of the hose?
If I were to buy a second hand (potong kereta hose) I think it would be cheaper and less time consuming!
WTF dirty tactics by either the mechanic or the machine shop!

Anyone please advice me the next course of action....

Feel like go and burn the asshole shops!

If the newly machined hose leaks, isn't that covered by your mechanic or machine shop? Is brand new mah!, unless you have used a few months already then cannot claim...

Already called to inform my mechanic...

Not free to go and sit there for 4 hours...

Will find out what guarantee they give me only when I see them!

Even they do it for free the machining, still I got to bear the labour and ATF cost!

    WTF ! ?:banghead:

Machining of hose is whereby the leaking portion of the hose is being replaced with new hose...

The process of machining of hose is done by using the high pressure clipping of both end of the new portion of that particular hose.

The clipping is done using metal clippers both both ends...

Is their fault for job not well done. I had a problem with recon air con compressor that leaked, so my mechanic claim another unit and he lost labor charges because he had to do a second time around for free.....

    ---------- Post added at 09:34 AM ---------- 6 hour anti-bump limit - Previous post was at 09:32 AM ----------

Air con hoses are under high pressure, that is why these hoses are machined. They do have ready made but sometimes due to their length...

As for power steering, none of my cars are with machined hoses. Just normal hoses with clips....:hmmmm:

TS hasn't told what car this is for so until then we can't assume that his car is a 'normal' car since he uses machined power steering hoses.
