Porsche 911 GT3 Shows itself in Geneva With 475bhp from its 3.8L NA Boxer Engine!

Porsche’s new 911 is due to go on sale in early 2014 and was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, with Porsche having completely redeveloped it to become the apex predator within a class of Naturally Aspirated machines; churning out a sonorous 475bhp (125bhp/L) from it’s 3.8L boxer engine to become the 5th generation 911 GT3.

Graced with the ability to lap the “Green Hell” in just under 7min 30s, the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 has the ability to catapult itself to 100kmh in just 3.3s, while 200kmh is reached in just 12s, before it reaches a Vmax of 315kmh.

All thanks to its 3.8L flat-six boxer engine capable of unleashing 475bhp to the rear wheel via a Porsche dual-clutch transmission developed from racing; giving the driver shorter gear ratios to work with shift paddles and the PDK can now be placed in neutral by simply pulling on both paddles at the same time.

In addition, and for the first time, the 5th generation 911 GT3 now receives an active rear-wheel steering for higher steering precision and improved lateral dynamics and now has the ability to setter in the same or opposite direction in order to achieve an improvement in stability and agility, while it rolls on a set of 20″ forged alloy rims with centre-locking hubs instead of the usual wheel nuts.

In terms of chassis materials used, it’s still based on the current generation 911 Carrera, employing the use of hybrid steel and aluminum construction, only the GT3’s unique front and rear parts have been specially designed. This allows the rear to become 1.7″ wider than the Carrera S as a large fixed- rear-wing sits on top, while air-resistance is still kept low.
