Dear all,

To be honest, as long as U have an alternator running the electrical supply in your car, no matter whether it's a 1200, 1300, 1600 or entahkeberapahundred, U should be able to fit an a/c system and run it. However, with a smaller displacement engine, you would be draining the power band U have within that engine, and thus would not be able to use the maximum power generated by the engine when U are using the a/c. In short, pakai a/c bila cruising, nak overtake offkan je.

Anyways, I find it surprising that sometimes, a stock 1200 engine could use an a/c and still be sprightly. Nak tau ape rahsia dia? Dah Porsche design engine tu elok elok 1192cc, takyah lah nak upgrade tambah tu tambah nie....hehehe...keep it stock, coz it's more reliable!

Nak buat a/c system for VW, if you want to get it done and over with perfectly the first time, go to someone who's a specialist, someone like Steven over at New Century. The amount of R&D he has done to fabricate the a/c system for VW's goes to show, coz it's ultra-reliable, and damn chilly once fitted and used!

OKlah, any other questions, just holler!

erm...tat ..i find that the earthing system is important too..
so i DIY using welding cable 500 amp to ground it all over the gbox, engine n body...
maybe u try a small a/c pulley..

Air Con System - Whom to go to!

Dear All (esp. vwmania
Steven/ New Century Cooling Systems is located at SS2, Petaling Jaya. Exact address can't remember, but the landmark is this.

If you're coming from Kampung Tunku, go up the hill at the SeaPark (ke SeaPort...can't recollect) School, pass the traffic light, ESSO should be on your right. Pass another traffic light, and Mobil is on your left. Proceed for about 100 metres further down, and look on your left. You will see New Century. At the end of that row of shops, there's an RHB bank. You can't miss it.

If you're coming from PJ or Tmn Tun, enter SS2 from Chow Yang. After that infamous nasi kandar mamak restaurant behind the Mee Yoke Chow Yang, proceed further down the road until you see Mobil on your right. New Century is a few doors away further down within the row of shops on your right.

I can't honestly attest that the workmanship is excellent, and the result is damn great. Just make sure to tell Steven of your exact needs, especially if you're using twin carbs or a bigger distributor, so that he can modify the mountings for the system.

Any other queries...I'll sort it out laters, peeps!

P/S - Any air con shop can fabricate a/c system for your car, but why waste time and effort when you can go to one that has been specialising in it for so long already?

Price range to expect --> (if Steven hasn't upped it yet) RM 2,400, all in.

Keep on Buggin', keep your tyres Grippin'!

a/c ni betul buat hal...not that i cannot live without it...but tak best la ..kalau dah ada a/c tapi not working.... vwmania, if tukar small a/c pulley will reduce the stress.. right? but the compressor cukup power or not? i mean the a/c wun be cool enough right? maybe we should make up a list where all the kaki vw fix their car and then quote some price for wat they have already fix so that we all can make our car a better car to drive.

yup nef...small pulley reduce the power engine...
selalu compresor sanden or denso starting from 505,506 n 507
for me 506 is cukup ler...
507 berat ma...
condenser location pon effect efect coz angin nak lalu...
i da dapat tempat install a/c but jauh...in penang
it cos about 1.5 to 1.7 k
with concealed kat bawah dashboard..
murah ler tu kalo kat klang valley nih...

actually , kalau guna compressor kelisa or kancil pun dah cukup memandai kan ??

A/C Woes!

Dear All,

Kelisa or Kenari a/c compressor would be sufficient when applied within an a/c system for Bugs, plus it doesn't drain too much torque out of your engine.

However, why settle for sufficient when you can have efficient, pointy-nipples inducing and way out chilliness within your cockpit? My say is....Sanden SD 505 is more than efficient. In hot weather, it's refreshing. At night and in cool weather, it'll give you and your partner "ideas". What more can you ask for?

Anyways, with regards to the injection ECU diagram, yes, thesamba.com would have it. Aside from that, you could also join the forum there, and get more pointers.

As for me, I'd rather not have a fuel-injection system in my car, if it's from an AJ-coded engine, coz there's just too much hassle in maintaining it. For one, the lack of repair kits for the FI system. Next, if the engine was bought without an ECU, you're done for, unless you're one of those people with enough R&D materials and info that can help pull off a Japanes ECU transplant.

In short, jangan cari masalah kalau tak perlu. Nanti orang cakap macam tikus betulkan labu...or as 'orang puteh' would say, Trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. It just ain't worth it, dudes and dudettes.

Adios, Ochos!

The best bet would be to obtain a Mexican Fuel-Injected engine from the 'kedai potong', or if you're lazy enough to scout around....I got a few Mexican engines up for grabs....(hehe!)
