Just stumbled on this homemade video of some guy, likely a technician demonstrating how one can beat a traffic camera by applying a stealth reflective coat onto the number plate, which when an unsuspecting traffic camera takes a photo with the use of a camera flash, magically turns the entire plate white and renders it impossible to read.

The video depicts the use of a couple of spray paint cans onto a regular number plate with what seems to be a clear coat (as claimed on video, when he spoke in a Chinese Hokkien dialect) and then a secondary layer from an unknown spray can to complete the job.

Can anyone tell what the 2nd spray can contain?

No matter what they spray also wasting time coz the new camera can zoom till roadtax clearly...
last time my friend plate number crack left half also no use, summon send till home also..

not sure....

but it just only works for AES camera (our country) probably....

but the myth already busted in Mythbuster series a few years ago.... (in that test they didnt use flash type speed camera)

Sometime back, I also saw in FB that in Russia they use some kind of special stickers on top of the license numbers which supposedly works the same way by blinding the flash lights but if the photo is without flash then I guess still no use.

I didn't think it'll be possible to capture or decode the Road Tax Sticker from a distance, but i suppose with a high speed coupled with high megapixel camera it's likely.

Wasn't this the one that documented if the camera can capture a high speed 250km above pass?

Not sure D coz when my friend request for picture he got a shock... since 1 picture with torn plate number another picture is windscreen with a roadtax..
Thats why, think of love ones, use summon for nice family dinner:biggrin:

owh thanks guys!

i am with "reflective sticker no plate" at the moment and definitely will remove my roadtax whenever im driving...

hehehe

there is another one testing the spray method, some convex lens add-on and higher speed pass...after all fail they resort to revolving license plate adaptor like jamesbond car

where would one get one's hands on those revolving plates??......

you know, for educational purposes:itsme:

Sometime, it is really sad to drive 110 when there is no car at all. You can even go 120plus.
Somemore worse, to drive 80 when it really so "ok" to go 90 over.
Haha.

Speed limits in Malaysia IMHO are just way too slow, pathetic! Big 3-4 lanes highway but only 80-110kph, slight bend dropped to 60, into a tunnel again dropped to 60, still like 300 meters from the tool gate already dropped to 60, minor construction work on the side dropped to 50, WTF ??!?! Honestly if I drive strictly following these speed limits, I might actually be more dangerous coz I may fall asleep easily and crash all over the place! People especially the authorities should realize that slow does not mean safe, these very slow speed limits are pathetically ancient stuff already, sigh...

the speed limits in MY is pretty much screwed. Some vehicles travel damn slow & hogging while other vehicles speed like crazy. Heavy vehicles oso speeding like nobody business. Zipping in out-in out smor. Those sticker on the buses that shows the speed limit are useless.

Some buses kana saman so many times, but still be driven on the road???

Night time/after midnite express bus trip lagi gila. Mostly speeding, when the road is quiet, lesser passengers, and no enforcement....

Got enforcement, no enforcement sama sama. Like you say, got so many saman still on the road. Many times I travel outstation, those buses ans trailers over take me when I am doing 110, so they are at least doing 130 where their stickers only mention 90.....:banghead:

I don't think speed limits in Malaysia are set to make people like 6uest bored. It's to stop those idiots on the road from killing themselves. If M'sia were more particular about road safety, car safety and all that instead of money in the pockets, we'd have access to better cars, possibly have better roads and probably lesser idiotic Myvis and irritating bikes.

But anyway I'm digressing.

Tom, don't bother with those spray cans and all. If we're talking about the old-type speedcams, you'd probably fool it if it's in night vision mode or confuse it with the flash. But the newer cameras have pretty incredible exposure balance and can see pretty clearly even at night. Not those pitch dark roads, most of these hidden cameras are used around lit roads. And the worse camera of all is the one that shoots your back and by then it's already too late. So gotta spray both front and back I guess.

Spray cans "might" produce limited effect to fool the camera. Or one fine day, the camera might capture clear photo of the plate. I wouldn't leave that to chance if I want to speed at AES camera zones.

Somehow, using a fake plate is the easiest.....but pity the real owner that has the same registration when saman is being issued.....

Unless you use a plate that show registration not even issued in a months to come. hahahahah

So in the end, the method "LOOK AES, slow down below speed limit, drop gear, pass the camera, step it HARDDD!!" still best way to beat AES camera

If just simply pick a number, means car of different make and color, real owner still have chance to explain to JPJ or police, but in the cases of clone cars having same number, make and color then tougher for them......hahhahahhaha:rofl:

Some R&D should be done to evaluate all these slow speed limits if really for safety because:
- Bored and get sleepy case like myself who can be more dangerous when driving slow.
- too slow means takes longer to get to destination, means higher chance to get into accident coz you stay longer on the road.
- accidents are often due to higher speed differences. The speed goers will never drive slow no matter what is the speed limit but other normal drivers then will try to follow speed limits. Now because current speed limits are that low, then there can be bigger speed differences between the normal drivers and the speed goers, so maybe higher chance of accidents. If the speed limits are higher then the speed differences might be lesser hence can reduce risk of accidents.

So some studies should be done to compare the statistics and evaluate drivers behaviors. The result might be surprising and not like most people may thought if those points I mentioned above proven true. Just think, how long already Malaysia has these slow speed limits?? 10, 20, 30 years already, or maybe even more?? Isn't that already ancient? I think increasing them at least by 20kph accross the board should be good already by now.

I agree though that these speed cams are mainly just to make money as they are all put in the slowest 80-90kph speed limit zone, plus some even in downhill areas even though the sections are perfectly wide and good enough for speeds much higher than that. As for avoiding speed cams, I think fake plate is the best solution for now.
