The injection of fun and spirited driving back into the Toyota brand is going well and strong as Toyota will be unveiling a new convertible sports hybrid concept at the Nurburgring 24 Hours. Although first displayed at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon, the concept, co-developed with Gazoo Racing, has been updated and will be introduced once again as the GRMN Hybrid Concept II.
Power will come from a petrol V6 that is mounted mid-ship and produces 245hp. An electric motor provides a further 50hp for a combined output of a brisk 295hp. Power will reach all wheels via an all-wheel drive system with the electric motor powering the front wheels only. According to the automaker, the entire car should weigh in at below 1,500kg.
Regardless, the key word in this entire article is ‘concept’ and though we would sell our left testicles to have one in our driveway, logic, and knowing Toyota, dictates that it isn’t something that will happen.
