Winning by a meter or a mile is still winning but some people religiously believe that winning must be done in style, preferably by crushing your opponents into something even their mothers wouldn’t recognize and the guys at Switzer Performance must pray to that mantra everyday before they get to the wrenching.

The speedshop has just lifted the lid off a very infuriated GT-R with 1,000 horses in its stables that are ready to trample over the Bugatti Veyron. Its nomenclature of Nissan GT-R R1K is very easily deciphered with the 1K most likely representing the 1,000hp and the R referring to its use of race fuel only.

Tym Switzer has upped the ante from his previous P800 GT-R that shoved, you guessed it, 800hp to the ground. All in all, the fully reworked engine puts out 238hp per liter.

The kit itself consists of reinforced engine internals, custom camshafts, rebuilt transmission by Sheptrans with Dodson components, upgraded fuel injectors, bigger intercoolers, modded turbos by Switzer flowing through custom headers, high pressure waste gates, custom intake assembly, additional cooling, lightweight titanium exhaust system and of course a stand-alone engine management unit to commandeer everything.

All this sounds very fine-dining like but remember that a gourmet meal costs big money and this is no different, setting you back a cool USD60,000. Remember though that it’s not just an engine upgrade but driveline components as well to withstand the torture of 1,000 enraged stallions.

So maybe the fact that it runs on race fuel might be a turn off but if you’re really a racerboy at heart, you’ll probably love it all the more for the richer fumes that the titanium exhaust will spew out.

So if there’s a Veyron in your neighbourhood that you just feel the deep desire to whoop on, here’s how you should get about doing it.

A car can have 5000hp, but if the handling doesn't match the power, the overall performance of the car will be f'ed. And all those horsepower would be wasted.

:)
