Please find the advantages of Filtermag compared to the normal magnet drain plug as you mentioned as follow:

1. Filtermag is made from Neodynium (a rare-earth material, the strongest magnetic material)
2. 100% will not affect other electronic parts (as it is properly shielded with Zyxel - space tech)
3. Magnetic power reducing only @ 180 degrees Celcius & above (normal magnet: 80 degrees)
4. Uses unconventional filtration method (grab all the metals at Oil Filter wall, throw after replace)
5. Able to grab metals as tiny as 2 microns
