Dear all,
If you have registered yourself in the sms.ac for sending free
sms, you are advised to unsubscribe it immediately.
According to the reported case below (written in Malay), unknown
people will keep on sending SMS to you and you are charged RM5
for each message received. See the attached bill.

(website : sms.ac.com) kononnya menawarkan perkhidmatan sms
Setiap hari anda menerima 4~5 sms
daripadabeberapa orang 'rakan-rakan' kelab anda bertanyakan khabar anda,
mengucapkan selamat pagi atau selamat tengahari!!! Hasilnya,
bil handphone anda dikenakan extra charge RM100~RM200 sebulan.!!
(sila lihat attachment).

mangsa
syarikat yang tidak bertanggungjawab ini..

Hmm doesn't sound like a legitimate complain because you will never pay for received SMS unless you send an SMS to request for something (ringtone, wallpaper, etc).

I don't know but I don't see how sms.ac can charge you by sending you sms unless they have an agreement/contract with Maxis and I don't think Maxis will simply have agreements like that without informing the customer.

The bill probrably shows that way because the customer must have smsed some premium number and replied to the messages he received.

My 2 cents..

I believe so too. Are you the one who got this? Or this is a rumour or what?

OMG you two...believe it...it was in the press like last year or so...u oso know they can charge u by sending ringtone or wallpaper or even text news...so why not this ah? LOL

if u read the fine print carefully when u r register at sms.ac.com ..u will notice that each sms receive will be charged RM5 per piece.....

Yeah, only when we send they charge.

Like digi $0.01, these guys $5.00

So they cant just easily charge. Or else they put in a malware or what in his handset and send msg every time inteval.

I still get many ppl sending me emails inviting me to join sms.ac. ...
I used to have the account ages ago. But never really used it, I put my ex-company's phone number in, if want to charge, charge that number lo. :)

Knew something like this do happen, so never really did use my own personal number, don't want to get hooked into this kind of shit, and how often do we log into a website to send an sms? When the phone is just by our side?

guess what!! I myself also kena for this.. after get my BILL, straight away call up to unsubscribe it.. Beware!!

i used my prepaid digi few years ago... then my fren told me bout this sms.ac rubbish... so i signed up and gave my number... turned out.. every month they deducted RM5 from my prepaid card...

wtf? i mean... its said to be FREE.. so i wanted to close the account. but i hav no clue on how to do it but to change my details ( my hp number) to an old SIM card of mine... now i dont get this shyt anymore...

how to unsubscirbe?? i remember signing up.. but i dun remember my details liao... :(

Its true, I kena b4.

Every month, they will deduct 5 bucks from your number. I was using prepaid and this happened.

If you read nicely in their agreement AKA the fine print, you will see that RM 5 is chargeable to your account if you activate your phone number. That RM 5 is for your so called "credit" to send/receive more SMS.

Here's the fun part, your credit will expire every month, and will be auto reloaded unless you say no. The best part is, auto reload is by default!

i understand this SMS gateway system
i mean u can subscribe
but u get charged for received SMS
its stated in sms.ac :) read properly
dont go subscribe daily news , daily horoscope all laaa
i know they can charge for sending u msg because
my uni MMU charges $0.50 for exam results requested and returned results so total $1.00

i don't get the hoohaa... read the agreement and you know what you're in for.
