Example is someone who is working for nissan but know jack sht about nissan, so instead of asking the year make of the car, they will directly ask u for the chasis number so they can look up in the Nissan FAST program to get the parts number.eg:Display panel LCD for BNR34 before august/00 and after august/00 have different parts number.They actually got no choice, because some skyline owners are newbies themselves.Alot of newbie skylines(not saying all of it lah)dunno sometimes their greencard, the manufacturer date has been tempered to deal with AP issues, this and that, so alot of ppl will just say oh, my car is manufactured in this year*points to green card*. The best way is to get info from NISSAN FAST which almost covers about 98% of the skylines ever manufactured in japan. No one is right or wrong here, ppl at Nissan or Parts seller just wanan make business and the owner is just scared to release chasis number, thanks to all the dodgy ppl who gives malaysia a bad name, forging "new" cars with other ppl's chasis number. In other countries, ppl are willing to freely give out chasis registers because such cases are close to none existance.Last time i remember i wanted to buy timing belt(almsot all timing belt the same for RB), they ask for my chasis number. Of course i didn't give coz alot of ppl in malaysia can "engrave" your chasis number to track or joint car to make it legal.
