A few weeks back, we were at the launch of the new Porsche 911. You can read our report here. At the time of launch, the only prices revealed were the duty free ones - RM430,000 for the Carrera and RM490,000 for the Carrera S.

Well, the wait is finally over as Sime Darby Auto Performance has finally released pricing for the two models. The quick details are below:

Porsche 911 Carrera *
Power: 350PS / 7,000rpm
Zerotohundred: 4.4secs
Top speed: 287km/h
Price: From RM800,000

Porsche 911 Carrera S *
Power: 400PS / 7,400rpm
Zerotohundred: 4.1secs
Top speed: 302km/h
Price: From RM900,000
*911 Carrera and Carrera S spec'd with Sport Chrono Package and PDK

The prices above are inclusive of all duties and taxes, but exclude registration fees, road tax, and insurance. A standard 4 year factory warranty and 4 year complimentary service and maintenance package is included.

On paper, the basic Carrera has 50 fewer horses than the Carrera S but performance figures do not seem to vary very much. The price is an altogether different story... Will definitely be interesting to see which will be the more popular model. We're still waiting to get our hands on the new 911 and we have our fingers crossed...

I really hate the taxes that the government issues for us !! It makes this types of cars only available for those with a higher level of income..Such beautiful cars but not everyone could appreciate it :driver:

Even if they make it cheaper (reasonable "cheap" not extremely, 300k lets say) .. those low/medium income couldnt afford the maintenance for it ... then u see alot of stranded porsches ..
