M o F #1 Slotting of standard disc is recommended to improve braking
Myth #1 Slotting of standard disc NOT designed to be slotted causes various problems; vibrations of disc due to unbalanced removal of material, the slotting and removal of disc material weakens the disc structure and rigidity, pre-mature disc material fatigue may result causing warping and cracking. Safety is thus compromised.
All RunStop curve slot disc were designed ground up with the correct internal vane design, disc materal thickness and stronger material selection to ensure the strength and rigidity of the disc to withstand the heat and stress of repeated braking.
RunStop vs standard disc
Top is RunStop curve slot disc, bottom is standard disc. Note RunStop curve slot disc internal vanes are much thicker, closer pitch and disc has has been selected and designed for curve slot
M o F #2 After rear drum to disc conversion, the handbrake will not work properly
Myth #2 Our rear drum to disc conversion is designed and customised for the Jazz / Fit, all parts used are Brand new which come with Brand new brake shoes & brake pads. After installation we also ensure that both the foot brake and hand brake work properly before handing the car over to the owner. We have come across several cars with strange combinations of drum to disc conversion using parts from old Civics and parts from scrap yard where the handbrake does not work properly. We recommend a proper custom job instead of mix-and-match-combination. Safety is key.
M o F #3 Braking will improve upgrading from 262mm to 285mm disc
Myth #3 Increasing the disc diameter from 262 to 285mm will provide negligible braking improvement as the increase is too small to have significant brake torque increase, a measely 11mm increase of the caliper outwards is of small significance. The huge cost and work involved does not justify the negligible improvement. A simple economical upgrade would be to replace with RunStop curve slot OEM size 262mm disc; this would provide sufficient braking improvement for street use. A proper upgrade would be Pro II kit 314mm disc upgrade to have significant brake torque improvement, this set up requires minimum 16"
NANO pads are here after much positive feedback from our customers
These are high performance NAO; Organic pads that are low dust. Those that hate noise & brake dust and have white or beautiful chrome rims will like these pads.
The pads have a typical of 0.4 mu (peak 0.43) rated till 600C, extremely consistent brake pad behaviour. Very suitable for street use as they do not need warm up and occassional weekend track warrior.
As you can see from the chart, most pads start to fall off drastically from 300C onwrads but our NANO maintain their braking torque till 600C
Note the 'white-ish' brake dust after a Sepang track day and 1500kms w/o washing the car
