R33 GTS Vibration

Buds,

Having this vibration in my car. It happens after 100km all the way to my 180km cut.

1) Changed both rear drive shafts
2) Change rear wheels (borrowed)
3) balanced long shaft
4) Center bearings ok.
5) Tighten all main bolts on the drive train.
6) Vibration is on throttle, off and even with clutch in and on free gear

The rear view mirror is vibrating till I cannot see clearly through it.
Last thing I have not done is change the gear box bearing where the prop shaft sits. Kinda expensive last step but might consider it.

Any similar experiences?

Yeah it sucks . Dont feel confident at all to let is go above 150km as the vibration gets pretty bad.

Summary of what has been done:

1) Changed both rear drive shafts
2) Change rear wheels (borrowed)
3) balanced long shaft
4) Center bearings ok.
5) Aligned cv joints
6) Vibration is on throttle, off and even with clutch in.
7) Changed gbox and diff oil
8) Changed gbox mounting
9) Checked all the suspension bushes.
Done today 15/5/08
1) New rear axel
2) Changed front wheels (borrowed)
3) Fabricated a size reduction rear piece to fit into my 4 inch Kakimotor rear muffler ( wow the car is so much more silent)

Conclusion: Still vibration at 110km+ all the way to speed cut at 180 km. When the vibration happens, there is a dull vibration which comes from the back and you can actually hear is. ( not very loud)

What else should I look at?

Wheel bearings are all ok. No funny sounds. Spin ok.

However is sound the only way to know if the wheel bearings have failed?

Really need some help on this issue.

Well, try to feel if it's mechanical or is it on the chassis. See if your exhaust is rubbing on any part of the car. Beats me really ...

Check it out. There is no knocking of the exhaust on the chassis.

My 33 series 2 also have this problem ... but mine just start vibra from 140km to 160km with boost kick in ..... if no boost the engine ... no vibration ..

my foreman say is the long shaft need to do balancing ... i havent try it ... since u did that already ... can u let me know where u did ur long shaft balancing ?

Car is so much better.

You stated that only on boost you have the vibration. Is it from the centre of the car to the rear? Care to elaborate? Seems that only on load there is the vibration correct? How about on hard accel?

Would love to share.

Why dont you try to load the tranny. Put it in 5th gear and drive from lets say 60km onwards both on and off boost. Sounds suspisiously like the long shaft .

Heck, sounds very similar to my car last time.Does the rear view mirror vibrate too at that speed? Vibration from centre to the rear of the car? All this is on boost I assume.

Side mounted. Boost only 0.8 bar and car totally stock except for the emanage. Happy with the power . If I go FMIC it is only for looks. heehe

issit your had changed clutch recently to metallic type? it might be the cause. i used triniti clutch without springs and vibration happen badly when i load my 5th gear... other than that the car is ok .... the vibration is so bad as if the car wanted to break apart. aprt from that my 1st to 4th is perfect..
