Nismo 380RS Test Drive

Nissan Motorsports — Nismo has fashioned a roadgoing companion to the Fairlady Z Type 380RS-Competition

Available in a limited run of 300 copies in the Japan domestic market, the Type 380RS will sell for around $44,000. That appears to be a modest price premium over the 2007 Nismo 350Z that is offered in the U.S. for $38,695.
The Nismo 380RS is the roadgoing sibling to the Fairlady Z Type 380RS-Competition in Japan.

Nissan Motorsports is offering up 300 of these Type 380RS versions of the 350Z in Japan.

Nismo Type 380RS with output of 350 hp and torque of 293 pound-feet as compared to the standard 350Z's 306 hp (44hp difference). The engine displacement is increased from 3.5 to 3.8 liters, as indicated by the name.

The Nismo Type 380RS gets upgraded shocks, springs and stabilizer bars. Brembo disc brakes are fitted, as are Bridgestone Potenza RE01R performance tires (245/40R18 in front, 275/35R19 in the rear).

A perforated-leather steering wheel with the Z logo is a nice touch on the Nismo Type 380RS. There's also a unique gauge cluster on the instrument panel.

Drilled aluminum pedals add to the sporty look.

What this means to you: Nismo takes the Z to its street-legal limit.
