R3-Satria (gti)

guys which one is better, drop in filter or open pod filter for SR3? i saw the pictures of the Gen2 and it uses a stock air filter which is drop in. So does that mean that drop in is better in terms of:

1) enjin performance?
2) fuel comsumption?

I know that this topic has been discussed in ZTH but somehow the response and feedback is not satisfactory. Need some response and feedback related to SR3.

Cheers.

Basically cold air is needed so we don't use an open pod which takes air from the engine bay.. Yes all our Sprint Enduro race cars use stock airbox with Cold Air Induction

Even with a heatshield, an open-pod filter will never match a drop-in with a CAI. Stick to the stock airbox and install a CAI and you should be laughing. You will experience better throttle response and slight gain in horsepower. There is little effect on fuel consumption.

hmm... so drop-in with CAI then...

guys i need a direction to TT this Thursday... I am quite familiar with Taman Tun but don't know where the roti john is... is it near the taman tun pasar besar?

Ninja,
Congrats on your run! Thanks for the pics too! Actually it's good to know that there's talk about the sso in zth. Maybe Tom shud set up a forum on SSO or autocrossing??? I normally think of 1 line whenever the marshall says go : "Drive it like u stole it!" Read it somewhere and i tot its funny. Based on the previous discussions, if i may say something: Yes, the heatshield works, and so does the CAI, as well as taking the seats out - as far as my car's concerned. Unfortunately my car is a 4 door car, so even with taking the seats out, it still weighs in at around 1070kgs, which is roughly the weight of an original honda EK type R (2 door). But still, stripping the car really works, as u get better braking, cornering speed and acceleration. U basically increase the boundaries of your traction circle. My advantage here would be the engine power, about 165whp. For the sso1dot5, I've also got the arospeed room bar installed, which have increased the body rigidity of the car. I wonder if it will work for the R3, or have they already got it as an upgrade?

Faisal,
U didn't get enough sleep, i guess from organising the whole event? Well good run still dude. And also congrats to you and the rest of the guys who put their heads together organising this sso1dot5. Adian also explained a little about the bump steer kit, and it sounds like a good thing to add to our cars. Too bad I don see any for civics.

Cheers guys

heyya KillerB :)

The Sprint Enduro Battle races comprise of 2 classes. Class A( 1.8) & Class B (1.6). Our Class B Podium finisher Waja previously had a 4G18 and is now fitted with the Race Campro Engine ( 122 bhp ATW) so the Gen-2 was fitted with the 4G93 to compete in Class A

Killer B,

165 ATW?? damn... Thats 25 more that R3 Stage 2 which is 995 kg + my 65kg + half tank of fuel ( about 1080kg) .. No wonder I lost... Nah just kidding....I never blame the car.. as one of my technician always say " driver problem, not car problem"

Cograts nontheless.

Sleepy... probly coz I've been spending the entire week in Johor... bored to death...

In terms of body rigidity the Satria R3 shell (bare, no windshield, glass, paint) has a Torsional Stiffness of 6584 Nm/deg and Bending Stifness of 4092 N/mm, which is slightly less than a Waja shell.

Torsional stiffness above 3400 Nm/deg is sufficient to ensure accurate wheel geometry when cornering on a bumpy surface.

Whoa... getting technical so early in the morning

Thanks for the info Faisal. Btw is R3 coming out with any stage 2 kits or performance enhancement kits for the Gen2? I'm really keen to get them if available...If you don't mind sharing what were the upgrades done to the Race Campro Engine?

wah havent been able to open ZTH for a few days and there's already been 3 pages that i haven't read...anyway congrats to both Crash & ninja_iga on SSO1dot5...sigh TT tmrw...wish could join(as usual )

r3 is taking a long time to sell, proton edar's website shows there are still 42 units left. the marketing seems quite good IMHO, but why it's not getting to the target audience is beyond me..
