After the successful Leg 1 of the Shell Helix Invasion Tour 2011 to Johor Bahru last week on the 3rd and 4th Dec, the supercars will be heading to Penang this weekend! Mark your calendar free on the 10th and 11th Dec as the Shell Helix Invasion Tour Leg 2 is going to bring you a number of exciting events.
On the eve of the drive, drivers will have their briefing at Flo, Equatorial, Kuala Lumpur. The wide variety of supercars, ranging from Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Porsche's and Aston Martin's to the agile Lotuses will be given an opportunity to mingle, while their lovely machines will be done up with sponsor stickers for the convoy up north. On the 10th of December, 2011, supercars will be gathering at Proton's Centre of Excellence, Shah Alam from as early as 0730 in the morning before the official flagoff at 0900 in the morning.
The troupe will be stopping at Tapah R&R Shell station for fuel before arriving at De Garden Ipoh for lunch. From there, the convoy will proceed to PIFWA (Penang Inshore Fisherman Welfare Association) at Nibong Tebal, Penang. PIFWA is a non-profit organisation, established in 1994 that focuses and raises awareness on the importance of mangrove trees in coastal protection and coastal conservation. There will be mangrove tree seeds planting activities at 1430 in the afternoon.
Prior to crossing the bridge to Penang island, the convoy will be stopping at Shell station in Nibong Tebal for a short break. The convoy will then arrive at Rasa Sayang Hotel at 1700 in the evening where they will be freshening up for the night. The gala dinner is going to be held at the Ferringhi Grill before being treated to a party at Mansion 69. Don’t miss this chance to meet the supercars and their friendly owners!
The next day will see the entire supercar entourage converge in Juru Autocity for the Lotus Autocross Competition at 1200 noon. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 quickest lap time around a circuit drawn up by Lotus Cars Malaysia's Mr. Oh Kah Beng.
